I dont normally post, just a lurker. But i thought I would reply to this thread.
I have a 96 F150 5.0 with 323,000 miles, all original motor and tranny. No major problems yet (knock on wood)! I use it almost daily for hauling my construction trailer to jobsites.

225,000, isn't that the distance to the moon? I'm on my way back now.

When I was looking around for a truck on eBay prior to buying mine, they had quite a few Ford trucks listed with well over 200k for sale, some over 300k and one over 400k. All of the people I know with Dodge trucks start to have major issues around 60-80k (engines, transmissions, electrical).

Just hit 100K on Friday. No engine problems at all. Just brakes, shocks and routine maintenance.
