My 1996 F-150 300/6 just rolled 100,000 on Sunday, still runs like a champ.

WLF,

Maybe you should qualify your statement or question. You didn't specify how old the truck could be.

I inherited my dads 1965 short bed F100 with 312,000 documented miles on it.

He recorded every set of tires, batteries, oil changes, lube jobs etc.

My dad drove 90% of the miles back and forth from home to work in Oklahoma City to Tinker Air Force Base.

That only averaged a little over 10,000 per year. I just replaced the original 240-6 engine 3 years ago.

'97 5.4L Flareside SCab 4x2 with 114,000 miles. Nothing but routine maintenance and running as good as the day it rolled off the line.

I had the woomwoomwoom sound in my truck a while back. The carrier bearing in the rear end went out, which caused the gears to get out of wack, which in the end cost me a new transfer case output housing, driveshaft, complete new rear end including one axle.

As far as 100K mile club, I'm there. I'm at 114K and doing my first plug change on my 5.4L. Not as bad as I had thought. My only problem is that I am finding other problems as I go along.

Question

172,000 miles on my 97' 4.6
however, it just started to stall at stops. In the shop...they replaced the IAC (still stalls)... they replaced the computer (still stalls)... otherwise have only replaced alternator, cruise control break switch (nasty problem, leaked break fluid into connector and shorted it) and rear seal on rear axle.

My '98 has 214,113. I have put a battery in it. Everything else came from Detroit, or whereever. Great truck and still my primary mode of transportation. I drive over 1oo miles each weekday. I think the heater core is goin, starting to sniff antifreeze.

I love my FORD. Excellent website, glad I found it.

My 93 f150 had 219,000 when I sold it two months ago. I hear the guy had a fender bender in her already. It will easily hit 300,000 if taken care of.

This is my first post on the website. It is a great source of information about our trucks. I bought my 98 XLT flareside brand new and have today turned over 165000 miles. What a great truck!!! Best vehicle I ever owned!!Still looks brand new!!
I have the 4.6 and this truck is bone stock. Replaced plugs and wires at 106000, tranny fluid changed at 80000, 3 sets of front pads, 1 set of rotors on the third set of tires counting originals,1 pinion seal. Have just switched to Amsoil 10W40 because I am intrigued with synthetic oil. I want to put on a Gibson or Magna flow when the original goes, should have done it sooner. Also want to lower 2-4 and wonder what is the best setup? Am leaning to the Ground Force setup. Any opinions?

STXDriver,
No clarification needed. Anyone who wants to post his high mileage F-150 is welcome to do so. I feel so confident in mine that I supercharged it at 167,000+ miles...

Hit 100,000 last month on my 1997 Lariat and reset the odometer to zero. Picked up a new 2004 FX4, man this thing is sweet.

Talking engines

Ive got a 97 4.6 long bed with 174,000 and it runs great. I hope to take it to at least 200 plus. Out side of normal maitence I have replaced the alternator , a few brake jobs and just had the transmision soft parts rebult as the result of a new under warrenty radiator transmision cooler ruptured ad forced coolant into the tranny. Its been a great truck for me ad its nice to here that It has the potential to keep on going.

160,000

I should hit 160,00 this week. This truck runs great, not quite as much power and I am having problems with it dying on me. But no major engine problems, still runs great.
