Who is in the 100,000 mile club?
240,000 and counting on 1999 F-150 4.2L.
Just replaced rear shocks this morning.
Other maintenance items in my memory:
New cats last year.
Did the odometer remove and reinstall after re-soldering the poor solder connections.
ABS light was from a sensor in the top of the differential with tiny metal shavings.
Tie-rod ends.
Starter (some time ago). Didn't get a dead spot where I could beat on it and get home, wire just burned in two. Left me stranded.
Front wheel bearings.
And the one that just drives me up a wall--OD light on the stalk flashing on-off. Could drop the shifter out of OD and it would quit. Took it to a transmission shop and they serviced and checked the transmission but concluded it was an electrical problem. Finally one day it wouldn't "stop". Come to a stop sign and take your foot off the brake and it was off and running.
Got it to a mechanic that was recommended for his electrical expertise. He discovered the wiring harness to the transmission had never been attached to the firewall by the molex connector plug when it was built in Claycomo and got against the EGR pickup tube and burned several of the transmission signal wires in two.
I wrote up his diagnosis and attached his invoice and sent it the regional Ford rep in Kansas City. Ford stood behind their product ("Quality is Job One") and reimbursed me for the repair.
