I would be careful sucking Sea Foam through the brake booster. I have a friend who did that on his Honda and the motor blew. He did the same on his F150 and everything is OK. Lower mileage is what we surmized.

Good luck with the motor. I know these sounds can be extremely frustrating.

Howdy-- Im new to the board but had to add --94 Explorer 4.0 L, 220,000. Leaks no oil, burns no oil. other than routine and PM. All I have done is replace Mass Air Sensor and Throttel Body Position sensor. Now you may ask why I'm not on the Explorer board. I just bought a 2003 F-150 4 x 4- 5.4L (44,000 miles). I just hope to have the same luck with this one as I did my Explorer. My F-150 didn't have a maint sched and I noticed the owners manual recommends 5w-20 synthetic. Anybody know what the oil change recomendation is with the synthetic. I changed my explorer every 3K to 4K with non synthetic. Also where can I get the F-150 service sched?

look in your owners manual. I think that is where my schedule is located for my 2000 Lariat. I hope you have good luck with your truck as well. I have had mine since 2001 (19,000 miles) and have had nothing major go wrong. The secret it to take care of it.

To get your maintenance schedule go to this site. https://myford.fordvehicles.com
create a account. It's free and enter the information for your vehicle. You can then access the maintenace schedule. You can also keep maintenance records on the site. It's preatty nice.

Good luck,

Doug

my 1990 F150 FWD has 193,000 on the odometer. The only things replaced besides the tires, exhaust, brakes, etc. are both gas tanks, the radiator, alt., water pump, hoses and belts, rear sping brackets, rear sway bar bushings and end links, ball joints on both side, radio, windshield, brake lines and hoses and as of today the oil pan gasket if I can figure out how to get that oil pan out since the repair manual method ain't working out. Back to it. PS: my cousing has a 92 F150 FWD with just over 218,000 miles on it. Everybody says those 300 6's will last just about forever.

Thumbs up 160000miles

I have 160k on my 1997 4.6l 4x4. The engine has a tapping noise when cold but goes away when warm. No major work other than normal maint and oli chcnges. The idle is starting to hunt when the A/c is turned on. Maybe I will clean out the intake like I have read about here.

Just rolling on 120k, this truck is driven very hard but is well taken care of. Still gettin 17 to 18 mpg and can sqeeze out 20 mpg at times. No major service other tie rod ends and O2 sensors. This is hands down the best truck I have owned.

Sled...

99 f150 5.4L 4x4...107K
No problems until 105k when it started to shutoff on me while driving down the interstate on cold mornings. I am glad it has started to warm up down here in the south.
