Which is all you had to state what you were looking for to begin with. But instead you basically blackballed yourself here. Great marketing.

For your sake ( well, more for HPS's sake ) I hope that intake churns out some impressive #'s and you keep the price at around 800 bucks like you have stated...

r3dn3ck has a 5.4 powered mustang he is just getting interest for HPS who is developing this intake

it looks as thouhg I will be getting an intake to test and I will do some thorough post on how it performs on the dyno and also on the street then I'll toss some boost at it and test it again...

the results and install pictures will help everyone decide for themselves if this is a worthwhile venture

You are an idiot.
Give us TRUCK numbers and TRUCK prices and we can talk. Mustang results are useless to TRUCK owners. There were no haters here just smart shoppers.

Wow. This thread took a dump in a hurry. Its amazing how many folks can't read and/or comprehend....

This product development is for real. Its a 5.4 version of the HPS 4.6 intake.

r3dn3ck never asked anyone to put money down, only those with poor reading comprehension took off that way and ran with it.

HPS is trying to gauge interest so they make a reasonable sized first casting run, a casting this complex is very costly to produce so that shouldn't be hard to understand...

There is a plan currently being looked at that would adapt the truck t.b. elbow to the HPS intake, making it a true easy bolt-on with no extra fabrication necessary. There would still likely be a performance replacement elbow down the line if demand is there.

Those who think adapter plates and a 4.6 PI intake are the same thing are WAY off base. A 5.4 with a 4.6 PI intake and plates will still torque peak round ~2200rpm and be on the decline from there, FAR too low for any kind of serious power building. Regardless of what intake you put on top of adapter plates there will be a serious jog in the airflow path, the runners in the intake and head run at an angle and the plates by default must run straight (perpendicular to head). I know. I invented them. Reichard and others have now copied them. They were/are used to make the swap easy in a Mustang, not becuase it makes a great performance combination.

Those who think runner length isn't important in a performance motor don't know engine theory. Boost doesn't change airflow either, short runners are for rpm, not boost. Runner length needs to match intended rpm range of the motor, not whether its boosted or not.

So..... a 5.4 engine installed in a different vehicle but built the same means nothing? It has to be installed in a truck to matter? The 5.4 I put in a Mustang was a truck engine, running through a 4R70W trans (same as many F150s), turning an 8.8 rearend (same as many F150s) and big 17" tires. Yeah, that has no bearing....

A truck engine tuned for truck purposes in a truck is different from a 5.4 engine tuned for a race Mustang even if it used to be a truck engine. My truck has a 9.75 rear as well.

the one HPS is making will be desingned for trucks and I will test it on a truck...

these are the areas I will be testing

trailer towing

dyno runs

street driving

1/4 mile

all will be VS stock intake and picstures and videos will allow everyone to decide for themselves

Who questioned whether or not this was for "real"? Please, look how the information was presented here. If the OP had explained things to us here just like you have and not get bent out of shape when some of us questioned his intentions, this thread wouldn't have taken the "dump" as you state. It's pretty simple, the more clear and concise the facts are presented, the less "we" have to assume.

Well, to the majority of truck owners in this thread would probably want to see the results of the intake installed in a truck. If "they" are trying to see if there is a market for this for truck owners, wouldn't the logical thing to do is actually test it in a truck?

The same engine in a Mustang will make the same power, but your moving 3500lbs compared to 5000lbs or so.

Let me guess, are you a conerned "customer" also?

Exactly!
That is what tarajerame is going to do for us.

You need to go browse back through some of the junk thrown at r3dn3ck... actually, don't bother, its not worth the time since the thread seems (for now) to be back on track, but there were plenty of insults, jumped conclusions, etc..... Some of that is very understandable since he's not known here and there have been all kinds of false promises on past modular parts, but it was still pretty overboard....

I fully understand that, and I believe HPS has every intention of providing such information as soon as possible. I'm talking to them myself right now trying to make the install into trucks easier and very straightforward (i.e. direct bolt-on), and hopefully can speed the process up as far as F150 owners (like myself) are concerned.

The same engine in a Mustang will make the same power, but your moving 3500lbs compared to 5000lbs or so.
Acceleration will be different, but the results as far as power curve and level will be the same. If someone with a 5.4 in a Mustang running a truck PI intake swaps to the HPS intake, the difference in power curve will be exactly the same as if the engine were sitting in a truck, so those results are 100% relevant to whats of interest here.

Let me guess, are you a conerned "customer" also?
I'm a guy who did probably the first ever 5.4 2v swap into a Mustang and wrote a few articles about it for 5.0 Mustang magazine, articles which were the basis of a lot of the interest in the Mustang community, which in turn leads to the possibility of having a performance intake for our trucks. When I saw a 5.4 version of the intake was under development I looked into the possibility of using it on trucks also, and my only actual involvement with HPS at this point has been conversations about maybe prototyping an adapter plate to mate the truck t.b. elbow to the current HPS intake design so that its an easy basic swap. I'm going to CNC one of the plates fairly soon with the hope that I may get an intake to test when they become available, and if that happens I will report the results for all to see.

Once again, let me repeat myself...

It's pretty simple, the more clear and concise the facts are presented, the less "we" have to assume.

The facts WERE NOT presented clear and concise. Just propaganda about a product that didn't exist at the time. Also "not committing" to anything yet we have to e-mail HPS to express our interest? Or be "first in line" or "adopting one", or when we can "pick one up?".

And that's all we have really asked for to begin with. Provide us with some actual numbers so we can make up our own minds and express interest to HPS so we can "pick one up"

So I guess everyone here will be able to "feel" how this additional hp and tq is going to affect towing, acceleration, or all around driveablity of their truck just by looking at a dyno graph or becuase the test was in a 3500lb Mustang?

Personally, I'm waiting for the testing tarajerame is going to do because he will have actual expereince with it in this truck.

Cool, We don't have to be the first in line or e-mail you to tell you when we can pick one up, do we?

Maybe you should have made the original post instead of r3dn3ck. Regardless, build it, test it, then sell it.
