So if we do a quick % division of the MM&ff numbers we get a 9% increase in hp for $ 1,500. Along with the intake would come a new throttle body, etc, were really looking at a $2k upgrade. That's pretty pricey, for most but the real racer. Of course, I want one.

You won't need a throttle body with this intake. Its all built in as part of the intake, of course you wouldn't be able to change your t/b either later on.

As for the Bullitt, according to what I read I think it came out to 40 hp increase on a 600 hp Stang. Anyone know where to get one the Bullitt intakes? I've yet to find one for the Stang and I would like to do that upgrade. The Logan is a bit much for me.

For the guy who pointed out that the original poster said HPS...you are correct I had forgotten that. If they make one then there will be 2 more new intakes for 5.4 engines, thats a good thing.

Here's a link to the Logan 2v. So, to use an aftermarket intake we would delete the IMRC. So, is it just shut off in the tune?

I would prefer that they had put it on an n/a car in mostly stock form but they didn't. I saw this thread and thought I would supply some actual info on the subject since there has been little of it to this point. And some us do actually care.

With that said if you follow the link to Logan they have a further write up where they say that testing on a 4.6 2V with only headers and cams yielded 321 rwhp. With that combo I'm guessing it was in the 260 - 280 rwhp prior to that.

I did find a Bullitt intake for my Stang. $939 for the intake plus $1300 for the installation kit. So for $1499 and more hp gain the Logan would appear to be a better deal. Of course there are other intakes that are almost as good as the Logan and cheaper, including the HPS Hardball, Trick Flow and the Fox Lake P-51. But I think the Logan may have far better gains.

From what I have heard about the Typhoon, they have allot of problems with leaking. At least on the Mustangs and I would surmise the same would hold true on the F150.

BTW, in the Oct edition of Mustangs and Fast Fords the editor wrote an article in which he said that the Nov edition will have a write up of different intakes being tested including one on a Navigator 5.4 engine.

Cool

HI!... Well I've been reading up on the LOGAN sheet aluminum intake and am strongly looking at running that intake manifold on my next built 5.4. I'm curious to see the gains in N/A form over my previous 354RWH.P. Due to my next built 5.4 with have a lighter crank, rods, and pistons and will have more head work done, i'm hoping this intake manifold can achieve the 400RWH.P mark in N/A form. It's a bit expensive but since the U.S dollar has gone to hell and the Canadian dollar is almost at par it might be worth going for it. I sent LOGAN a e-mail about doing a 5.4 version of it. If not I'll run the 4.6 - 5.4 adapter plates with it. I suspect this LOGAN intake would be absolutely awesome once I go with the larger snail. At least with this intake I could run the 132mm TB I've been looking at.

It's official. They're now advertising it.

www.hiperformancesolutions.com/54.html

Watch the HPS site for more details.

FWIW... There won't be a top plate adapter setup at this point that I know of. That means you'll have to do some custom work with hose/vacuum tube routing and little stuff like that to use it on a truck. I could do the conversion in 3-4 hours with a mustang plenum and TB. I'd bet you guys could do it just as easily. It's all stupid easy.

Well... given the description, just look at the top of the 4.6 intake and imagine it looking very very similar.

I promise to post pics as soon as one is made available to me. As soon as I test it on my motor, I'll post dyno results with the mustang PI intake, the HPS 4.6 hardball'r and Reichard plates and the HPS 5.4 intake. That should keep y'all in data to digest for a while. Figure on several months before a retail copy is available. Test data should be available before that but who knows when.
