I have to agree with LLyod here. I have met and raced lots of S/C R/T's. Nice guys with nice trucks but they still don't stand a chance in the 1/4. and the Name calling needs to stop.

SillySy: is the big race is at the track at union grove (GLD)? I would also like to meet up with some of the SyTy guys, but i am only allowed to go play at the track.

again I am always up for some friendly
compition as long as it stays friendly. Some time we win, sometimes we lose, just as long as it's in good fun.

Dave, I agree with your post also. Friendly competition at the track. And leave the RT's out of this. They are a complete waste of time for either of us. I guess I have to break out my 91 S10 305 tpi for them. (completely stock parts). I think that would be a good race for an RT. Having a RT guy break into the conversation is like having a little brother trying to hang out with you when you were 18. Ya just wanna slap him & watch him go home crying.

R/T's need more than just a bolt on blower to beat a stock lightning.The ones ive seen run low 14's.The ones with more than a blower run 13'2.

The nice big ole races I was talking about are this saturday and GLD for the final street drags of the yr... do'nt know how many sytys there will be i may be the only one usually am there BUT it is a balst and you WILL see the quickest street cars ever i can promise that... most of the syty people on this board know about my sy and how incrediabnly slow it is i got a little problem with 19 degrees of knock retard but oh well its still fun as hell... i am willing to race thoguh most likely lsoe but what the hell itll be fun. LSChicago ill call you as asoon as i can my scheduale is strange cuz i work midnights so give me time.. race or not race win or lsoe i don't care when it comes down to it isn't it all about having fast trucks and kicking some corvette and ls1 ***? I dont know what kind of blower you guys are talkin about, 8lbs of boost from a powerdyne, kenne bell, or a vortech puts it at about 13.7 at least, it may not be as fast or as quick stock, but it sure as hell looks alot better...

I'm goin home, now YOU get a life you jacka$s..I'd still take my truck, a syclone and a typhoon over a lightning, it may be fast but its still an ugly F-150 underneath and its still a FORD, it doesnt get much worse than that..

 

Like I said previously...showing your true colors here. No one here CARES if you like the Lightning or not. Obviously, you have an R/T or whatever. That's fine. No problem.

But, I have been to the R/T board and read what stock R/Ts with _just_ an 8psi blower run. Not even close to high-13s. Sorry. I've witnessed two here at our local track where a STOCK '99-00 L ran 13.7-13.8 on the same night the Vortech'd R/Ts ran 14.3-14.4 with ET STREETS!!! The L was on radials. While I thought both trucks were nice and clean and the installs looked good (and I do like the front end of the R/T, btw), I was totally unimpressed with the way they ran.

SY1999R/T, Style is a matter of personal preference. I like the looks of the R/T, & if I wanted a cheap smaller truck I might consider one. They sound great & do good burnouts with the 3.92 gear, but that doesn't win races does it? That is why I bought the Lightning, It wins races. I'm sorry that you bought a RT that can't compete, but to sit here & say "if I do this, or I do that, I could win" is not very productive. Put your money where your mouth is, & do it. If you can't, Don't sit here & bad mouth the ones who made the right choice. People learn from their mistakes, & I'll bet when you turn 21 you might be able to look back on this & say what was I thinking? For a couple thousand more you could've bought the worlds fastest production pick-up, & wouldn't be here trying to trash the Lightnings. Lloyd

I've seen a R/T with only exhaust mods, and a 6PSI blower run 13.2@102...
Thats damn good... Blower was only $2300 too
Shoot... I'm pushing 9PSI, and still working to catch up.. =( Oh well.. thats part of the game...

 

Back to the real topic, (Sy vs. L) Stock for stock the Syclone is quicker 0-60. The lightning is quicker from 60-120. (Or anything above 60). The lightning is faster, hands down. I guess 2 out of 3 is good. there is always something better in at least 1 area of performance. Lloyd
