One last thingfor you RT guys to think about. You say that our trucks cost more, BUT they also retain they're value better! A checked a 99 reg cab R/T & a 99 Lightning each with 12,000 miles, Excellent Cond. trade in values. Here's what I found: R/T 11,510 Lightning: 27,850 The lightning drops about $1,000 after a year and the R/T drops by half! Not well spent money to me. The Sy/TY hold their value well. Check out www.kbb.com and see for yourself. Loyd

WaitandBleed,

I'm not a fan of those fake projectile headlight covers either...but DAMN....you are NOT one to talk. What in the world does it say in HUGE red letters on the side of what used to be an awesome looking truck? And those wheels. UGH!

question for those claiming the dakota is so much cheaper (by the way, getting beat never feels good even when the car that beat you cost more)
if you can't finance 28,000 for a lightning what good is financing 22 - 24 for a dakota. where do you get the cash for the 3 or 4 thousand in up grades if you cant afford the extra 80 to 90 bucks a month payment -- master card @ 19%.

Thumbs down

Too bad you're WRONG again !!
5.9 Durango R/T or Grand Cherokee or whatever can't touch the ML55. NOT in handling, NOT in top speed and NOT in acceleration. But if you prefer the build quality of a rotted out Amish buggy than the Dodge or Jeep is your choice. As far as the Shelby Durango is concerned it's a TUNER truck NOT a PRODUCTION vehicle. Got it.

Coolva, I have no problem with you. Is Sy1999RT that bored with the RT site that he has to keep talking his childish BS on this board? I think he needs to get a life (or a Lightning). The only reason I don't care a lot for dodge trucks is that they're not "RAM TOUGH". that is why you will never see dodges become popular as tow trucks. look around ever see any? I have a freightliner tow truck with a Cummins. That is about as close to a Dodge truck as I will ever get. Lloyd

sticker is only on there for the syty nationals show only. other than that, it is gone. sad part is, the truck is still faster than more than 90% of you guys out there. and for the 80's ghetto rims. prove it. show me an add for 20s in 1980s. i would like to see one.

sorry, i stand corrected, 90's ghetto rims.

and you said something about ugly 80s styling, isn't your body style an 80s style? you need to look in the mirror, and trade those rediculous rims in for something classy.

Hey

the sticker was too much but if its only a show peice who cares

the rims aren't 80's getto but they don't suit the ty very good...look wrong to me but if you like them then who cares...anyone bithching about you rims won't see them very long LOL you can't see rims when the truck is 2 carlengths ahead of you

I love this thread....i have always wanted a ty (i think that the sy are ugly) but i need something to tow my thunderbird with and something with a warrenty.
your trucks are fast and so our ours...facotry speed is becoming irrelevent...how many sy/ty left our stock?? not may L's that are raced are stock considering how cheap good mods are

You guys have had 10 years to work out kinks and breakdowns associated with high milage. Lightning owners do not have that luxury let. We don't know long our trannys or engine will last...with time L's will be in the 12's with $500 mods.....Every couple months we get a new chip that gives about 10 more hp, i don't know how much farther we can take it but we will see. Thats the great thing about our trucks. We are constantly busting down mod barriers..

I have worked on alot of old cars and it suck knowing that everything has already been tried, raced and bettered a thousand times. When we start a new mod its uncharted terratory, its a great thrill to know your the FIRST person trying this mod..

Anyway peace out man
sweet truck, bet it will kill me off the line....lets jsut see if you got the ***** to keep the petal down after that LOL

Cool

Had a Dodge SST before my Lightning. Loved the truck, needed more H.P.

Test drove an R/T, was real fast and did put a smile on my face. Almost bought but wasn't comfortable with not being able to move the seat far enough back, the size of the truck was too small. (interior).

Bought the Lightning without a test drive based on the looks and investigations of the vehicle

Now that I own one, I would have kicked myself for going with the R/T even if it was $10,000.00 cheaper. I'm not knocking the R/T or any of my buddies Full Size Chevies, Dodges or Fords because they are trucks. The Lightning doesn't even feel like a truck. It's a sportscar with a bed. "Beleive It"

Simply Stated:
I WANTED A SPORT TRUCK THAT WENT FAST AND HANDLED LIKE A SPORTSCAR! HANDS DOWN THERE IS NO OTHER PICKUP/SUV ANY WHERE IN THE WORLD THAT COMPARES TO THE SPEED, HANDLING, BRAKING AND OVERALL APPERANCE OF THE FORD SVT LIGHTNING! AND THATS THE TRUTH!!

Don't beleive me, come to Michigan and I'll let you drive the damn thing. You'll find out for yourself. Then you'll see what the trade in value of that R/T is!
