Guys want to hear somethings funny, I talked to some kid out on Gratiot Ave. who has a white S-10 SS with dual flows, some chip, and ram air, I own a Dakota R/T with K7N intake,a Mopar PCM, and just a muffler, he said that he could smoke any truck that pulls up next to him, he said even, LIGHTNINGS AND SYCLONES DONT STAND A CHANCE, I told him I would run him at the next light, next light came aroundand by 75 mph, he was about 4 cars behind, I say him at another light and told him he would be safer to stay away from Lightnings, and Sy/Ty's..

SY RT or whatever your name is, If you take away our supercharger and the sy's awd the Sy would still have a turbo! Maybe that should've been: the Sy needs turbo & awd to compete. And Dodge Dakota R/T's? DON'T EVEN BOTHER!! THOSE TRUCKS ARE A JOKE LOL. Even supercharged they can't compete with less weight & a bigger engine than a Lightning or a Sy/Ty.This has been proven over & over at the track. At least the Sy/TY is a close run in the quarter. Have a nice day Lloyd

Saw a race at the local illegal drag's Sy vs L, the Sy jumped off the line but by the end of the 1/4th its front bumper was at about the front curve of the flareside of the L.

Thumbs up

I have a Syclone and it's hard to compare a stock Sy and a stock L seeing as the Sy's are 10 years old now, and there aren't many bone stock ones left. There is so much that GM could have done but they didn't. First off the stock turbo is too small for that size motor, Fuel pump not any good for more then 15# of boost, etc. They put only the bare minimum required to run the stock 15#'s of boost. 2 bar MAP sensor only good for 14.7# when they had a 3 Bar from the Turbo TA that is good for up to 30#'s. Plus GM would never want a car/truck that's faster then their top sports car, the Corvette.

What i'm getting at is, there is a lot of room for improvement and upgrades that "we" (syty owners) call safty mods. Upgraded FP, aux I/C, etc etc.

Best i was able to get out of my 105K mile truck with "safty" mods was a 13.095 and only running 18# psi. I know a guy that has mostly the same mods and his best is a 12.44 on a stock turbo'd, stock engine truck.
Remember these things when your so quick to dem a Sy or Ty not stock. I consider the truck stock untill a bigger turbo is put on it or the engine has been rebuilt.
As far as being a ******* truck, i've hauled tons of stuff with my truck, without any problems, TV's, fridges, washer, dryers. whatever i need to move, so it can be done. GM just doesn't like you to.

A stock sy/ty has a speed governer of 126mph built into the chip that's why it dies then.
Ok i'm done, game on

Yes, I am from Macomb Township. 24 mile & Hayes to be exact.
When I ran the Syclone my truck was bone stock w/2000 miles. His truck was decked out with gauges and a whole lot of funk!

Myself, i've done a few things:
1999 Red Lightning
PSP Chip
Pro-M Meter
Lowered with a 3/4 in. rake
Red Slim Top (Bad A@@ Looking Top)
Pioneer DEH-P8000R Super Tuner III, Rockford Fosgate Amps, 2-8in. comp. Bazooka Tubes
Cerwin Vega 3 way 4x10 speakers in doors & rear.
Dynomat sound insulation throughout.
Basically I have a 140mph. concert!!!

can i ask why you guys are saying hypothetical things like "if you the L didn't have a blower"...and "if you take away the syclone's awd it would suck"?????

the lightning IS supercharged and the syclone DOEShave AWD, so its a moot point, get over it.

I would like to point all you fullsize truck fans putting down the sy/ty because of the small load cap. to the GMC site where you can find info on the GMC C3. A fullsize pickup with 300 hp and (of course) AWD. Should fare pretty well against the L, and sy/ty.

Go look at www.syty.org.

Back in the summer of '99 I was looking for another vehicle to play with. Chose a new L over some mint Sy/Ty trucks and several mint Grand Nationals I'd scoped out.

The _fact_ is that a stock Syclone (according to their own webpage timeslips!) runs low-14s/high-13s. Period. The trap speeds are not as high as a stock L. However, they'll whip an L in an 1/8 mile race b/c they do indeed get out of the hole so well.

Neat trucks, but if we get into..."well, I can do yadda, yadda, yadda...and run 11s" then that's not a valid discussion.

My grandma's wheelchair runs 8s with a simple 100 shot of nitrous.

When I raced Cristy Ann with my Syclone it really wasn't even close. I did have an upgraded torque converter and K & N. I had a chip as well, but nothing more than that.

I really could not see a stock Lightning beating a stock Syclone. I guess that is why the Lighting is the fastest and the Syclone is the quickest.

I saw some lightnings at our national gathering in KC. 14.4, 14.6, 15.04 were the only 3 runs I remember. Usually the fastest runs stick in my head.

Pu**y Trucks - yup, you're right - we get alot of Pu**y from driving the truck LOL

I'm still waiting for a lightning to stay within 7 cars of me...I only have an exhaust and fuel system, jeez...

Don't get me wrong tho - the new lightning is no joke. If I were looking for a new truck with some serious power - Lightning is the only choice. They have better topend than a syty stock for stock...if we ran the 3/8 mile we may be in trouble.

"King" of ....

Must not get over to the Texas Motorplex very often. Stock '99-00 L's turn consistent high-13s. How this fares against your slightly modified Ty, I cannot say. But, mid-14s isn't the norm. Low-15s and we're talking a Gen 1 L. Those will run low-15s @ 87-88mph. ]

This is getting old. _Most_ of us L owners here think the Sy/Ty is neat. Read my previous post on page 1 of this thread. But the attitudes here are a joke. Keep showing your true colors, gents.
