[QUOTE=Tim Skelton]You should have thought about that before you strapped a grenade (AKA 6 lb pulley) to your engine.

OK my question...is it safe to run a 4 lb pulley on a stock engine (winter or summer) or will the same results happen as it did with this gentleman?

nothing is safe

nothing is safe once you change it from stock.

Over the past few years, up here in new england there is at least 2 posts of people blowing motors. Usually with a 4 or a 6 lower.

I've seen 2 trucks blow stock motors.

One of the guys was at the dealership when I was there and he said it was cold and when it shifted out of 3rd it made the nastiest noise and it was over.

If you are worried about warranty, don't touch your truck till it's out of warranty. That pretty much sums it up. Otherwise all bets are off. Don't go by what your dealer tells you because they don't make the call on replacing your motor/transmission. Factory reps do and THEY DO know what do look for.

They will look at the bolts on the lower pulley to see if they have been touched. They will look at your exhaust to see if it's been altered. They will look at your computer and plug in their own diagnostic tool to see if it's been tampered with.

USE THE SEARCH BUTTON.

What makes him dumb? Of course he is ultimatley responsible but if he bought all those parts and had it tuned right he should have been able to do those kickdowns without damage. unless his tuner told him he was on the edge or didnt buy what was needed to keep this from happening. two years ago if you blew up people would have first asked who tuned ya. today we just lambast the poor fellow for wanting to enjoy his truck and we dont question the tune anymore? giv me a brake

03 LightningKocks I bet you $50 your a Dumb@ss, want me to dig up the thread where you told a guy to put his truck back to stock, then take it in to the dealership, to diagnois a problem, basically stealing(exact Quote by you was -If I were you,I would put it back to stock-.). Why don't you mind your own buisness. Let the person decide what he wants to do. We are all not as perfect ,moral and wealthy as you. For the Lawyers out there, If nobody did anything wrong you would'nt have anything to do.

OD1010 came on a public forum and asked for input so why should anybody have to keep his opinion to himself?

OD1010, most people's first inclination would be to try to pull a fast one on Ford. Unfortunately you've come on here and tipped your hand. Chances are you won't get away with it. It's an expensive lesson but it could be worse. Good luck.

I agree that most everyone's initial inclination is to pull a fast one on Ford. Keep in mind that if you do, it's not "cheating" - it's called fraud. Not being high and mighty or passing judgment, but the truth is the truth. Ford passes the cost of this onto the consumer - you and me. Do the right thing and pay for it yourself. If you can't, get a loan or help from family. You'll sleep better at night.

screw ford!

Take it back to stock, not just 1/2 way. All the way 100%. Make sure there is no rubber under the bed from any burnouts. Tow it to the side of the freeway. Call Ford and have them tow it.

Then call AAA and get the plus package where they tow your car up to 100 miles up to three times per year.

Even if the guy takes it back to 100% stock, its futile,Ford will look for bolts that appear to have been broken loose etc.
If you mod these trucks, dont expect Ford to repair it. Your adding alot more HP than the rods were intended to handle.
I took it upon myself to accept the responsibility of my engine failing after "I"
modded it.

Since you have only been here 2 months, you might not realize that 6lb Pulley + Cold weather + Kickdown + Doing high speed run = GUARANTEED blown engine. There are countless thread about it. So YOU take a break and try researching things before you come on here running your mouth about chit you know nothing about.

The situation that thread was 100% different than this situation. But what ever floats your boat little buddy.

I've sprayed mine off an 80mph kickdown in cold weather and nothing bad happens.
