That was me. My motor still runs. I won't floor it until the problem is resolved properly.

The reason I caught the condition is because I use a wideband. That way I don't burn through a piston. Anyone with a modded Lightning should be using a wideband of some type.

Alot of self rightous people on here...wow.

I think Ford ain't gonna go broke over the cost over a motor.

Believe me, they got things like this all figured into there budget.

Concur, but your actions define who you are. Some people hold themselves to a high moral standard. I'm one of them.

I agree. Like I just posted. I made 2 passes, one on my hot street tune and one on my race tune and both were way leaner then i'd like. I parked it for the day instead of pushing my luck.

If i didn't have that, i would have kept going and who knows, i could be making a blown motor post.

Funny, when my old man's motor blew, he didn't want to be bothered to put it back to stock, i basically pulled it in and did it for him. Our dealer said hey, as far as i'm concerned, it's stock, there's rubber on the rear tires, and it's an older guy driving it............if they warranty it, they do. He wouldn't do anything to help, but wouldn't do anything to hurt either.

Then he saw my truck and said don't ever ever ever pull my truck into his service center and have the word warranty come out of my mouth........hahahahaha. (he said it laughing)

So if you believe it is wrong to steal...and say you think it is wrong...it makes you self rightous?

On the other hand...if you steal from those that have plenty...it is OK?

Nice philosophy to live life by....

Gotta say ..I feel for the guy, BUT If you put a 6 lb lower on and do 120 MPH spirts in the cold (25 degree) after reading on this site how people blow stock motors this time of the year over and over again then its time to own up.

But not my L and not my situation.

not sure about this?

I am fairly certain that there was some sort of a Federal lawsuit pertaining to vehicle warranty. The verdict was that unless the manufacturer can without a doubt prove that the modifactions caused the problem they must warranty it. ie. just because it had mods that doesnt mean that there wasn't poorly forged rod or a unusually weak spot due to impurities, where would they draw the line, exhuast? intake? tire wheel combos? chips? fluids? gears? ect...

doesnt really pertain to this but a few years ago I had purchased fairly expensive knife but after owning it for about a month it broke. I called the manu. they told me to send it back and about 2 weeks later I had a knew knife along with a metalurgist analyzation of the break and it was flawed. I didnt tell them I was using it as an ax but it didnt matter.

Look at Wal-Mart they will replace, repair or return anything they never ask questions. You are talking about multi billion dollar a year companies a few thousand here and there doesn't hurt them, they would rather have you be a return customer that give you grief and risk losing you as a customer for life

I don’t frequent this forum too much, but posts like this remind me why. Ok first off a friend who referred me to this post because he was LAUGHING at the remarks made by the fellow members. I work at a dealer. In sales now but I did service for a while. The mods prob did cause the problem, but remember that the dealership wants to make money. The more warranty work the better. Service Dept makes money, tech makes money, truck gets fixed, everyone is happy. For those of you that are b!tching and moaning about Ford getting screwed, shut up. I mean really wtf do you think you local Ford dealer has been doing for prob there entire existence. When it comes to warranty stuff like this the manufacture almost always gets screwed, in every dealer, of every make of car. You can choice to disbelieve that if you want, but its true. Secondly this person has come to you guys for help and advice but it seems like he is getting ethics lessons? Come on, wake up, this isn’t banking or stock trading, It’s the auto industry. Maybe I’ve spent too much time on Subaru/Audi/Nissan forums but from what it seems like in your posts people have had this prob before (doesn’t say much for your trucks, but that another post all together). My suggestion is return it to stock as best as possible, get it towed to a local dealer. 99% of the times the Service department WILL NOT talk to the tow truck guy because he just drops the car and leaves. He doesn’t know whats wrong with it or why it is there, that’s not his job. They drop the car and it is the customer’s job to let the dealer know about it. Worst case it goes in for work and they say it isn’t covered and you pay whatever there diag fee is, like $80-$100. If you get on the phone can call Ford and complain till they don’t want to listen anymore they will prob cover it, but that takes time. Sometimes the dealer will fix something that they assume is under warranty and while the claim is still pending the car is fixed and left, while the dealer gets screwed. In conclusion take it to the dealership, stock, hope its covered and everyone gets a little extra money for xmas, except you get a new engine.

guy puts more parts/tune on truck than truck can safely handle, does wide open run in cold weather at high speed/excessive load, motor goes boom, can't afford what he got himself into, contemplates letting someone else pay the tab.....

i say put it back to stock, take it to the dealer, and let karma take if from there
