There's already several solutions in development to prevent texting/calling - ie, GPS in phone disables it while moving, key fob that disables phone via Bluetooth, etc..... none of them are perfect though....

Perhaps one day there will be a mandatory chip in the steering wheels that disables all phones within 3-4 feet (or something to that effect). Or a device like that you could install, pair with a phone(s) and get an insurance discount for doing so....

If there's $$ to be made, someone will come up with a solution.....

Is "staying in touch" that flippin' important? Ten years ago, we couldn't do this at all. Somehow, we all survived. Of course, if we ALL text and drive, survival in the future may be a moot point. But then, there'll be no one to text to, so we'll be fine!

Is driving really all that necessary? Cable TV? Internet? Cell phone at all? No, but it is convenient.

I text if I am completely stopped, aka at a red light I will. Whenever the truck is moving I won't text. Texting and driving is a bad idea and if I swerve into someone in my truck chances are they won't be too happy with a bumper through their window.

Yup. If it's important ill do it at a red light that i know i have some time. I cannot text without looking and no way can I drive and text. I have a qwerty keyboard but just cannot do both at the same time.

No dude he was serious, if something is that dam important then pull over and text away. I see folks everyday on my 125 mile drive and they are texting and driving and they are all over the road. Humor doesn't get people killed. I have more humor in my middle finger than..... never mind...

peace be with you....
