Who Texts And Drive?
i see it all the time around here. it is a primary offense where you can be pulled over just for that. i think instead of a ticket the cop should just be able to put the device on the ground, stomp on it with his heel and say have a nice day and drive away without all the paperwork.

You guys ever see that you tube video floating around of the guy in India speeding down the freeway on his motorbike, feet up on the handlebars, and texting? LOL
I'm in the same boat as Raoul, I see all these young kids, texting 75 words a minute, WTF? It literally takes me 10 minutes to text "I'll be a few minutes late" Seems more practical just to call and let them know.
and what's with the CONSTANT back & forth texting you kids do? What the heck is there to be talking about all that time, I'm guessing most of it is useless meaningless crap that just wastes time.
I do. I'll txt, talk and check my email.....hell I've even posted on here while driving to MS.
Granted I pick and choose my spots on the road when I do it, like no cars around or at red lights, but I'll man up and admit it.
And if that scares ya'll to where it keeps you off the roads around me and outta my way.......AWESOME!
That's the beauty of a QWERTY keyboard on a phone.

Not to mention I can type an entire message without taking my eyes off the road. Its really not that hard once you get used to your phone. But like He said I dont do it in traffic or whatever.
I do not nor will I. I also do not talk on the phone unless its hands free device. I would love to see the day come that it is illegal in all states. Id be willing to bet the majority would as well. Please dont endanger me and my family becasue "you" want to be careless.
I don't just for the fact that my company phone doesn't have and I can barely talk on the phone and type an e-mail let alone text and drive. But I used to be able to drive a loaded boom truck through town eat my cheese burger talk on the phone and shift an Eaton-Fuller 8 speed unsynchronized tranny up and down with out grinding a gear. It also comes down to the simple fact that some people cant drive to begin with.
I would say it is more than just texting while driving.
How many times have you seen the mom turned around yelling at the kids in the back seat, while drifting all over the lanes ?
Anita ( fellow rider ) was killed this year ( right around Mother's day ) when the woman in the car behind here was doing her nails while driving.
Anita was sitting at a stop light, and the woman drove right into the back of her motorcycle at ~ 50 mph. Phone was in her purse, but there as red nail polish all over the airbag, and the inside of the car.
Just a reminder it is not technology that causes distracted driving.
Recall as far back as the late 80's, the guy reading the newspaper in the car while driving down town. The web browser on the phone has just replaced the newspaper 20 years later.
If I tried to text while driving, I would take out 2 cars, and have sent the message
instead of I'm on my way.
Hands free and voice activated dialing almost work, I usually call Vicky instead of voicemail
Call Vicky ?
No VOICE MAIL
Call Vicky ?
No VOICE MAIL
Call Vicky ?
oh for the love of....yes call Vicky ( don't know who she is )

NO, I do not text while driving.
If it's so damn important, pull the hell over at a safe spot and stop endangering other people with your selfishness. Duh.
Just because other things also distract drivers does not make texting OK.

I was driving from Vermont to Georgia and coming through New York state outside Albany there was heavy traffic. I watched a lady on her cell phone totally miss seeing a motorcycle driver in the lane next to her. She merged into his lane causing him to hit the breaks and slide all over the place. Once he regained control (which was impressive) he sped up next to her, got close enough to knock on her window and flipped her off. Except for the part where he almost bought the farm it was funny as hell.
