Texting while driving is a lot more dangerous than talking. You can use a hands free kit and never take your hands from the wheel or eyes off the road. It is less distracting than talking to a passenger because most people tend to look at the person they are talking to every once and a while out of habit. If you think texting is safer than hands free talking Darwinism will get you soon enough. If you text while you drive you absolutely are a danger. You have just been lucky.

no i have already proven throught my previous post that i am no danger, i wasn't saying that talking and driving was dangerous because you have a hand off the wheel. it is more dangerous because you are constantly thinking about what to say and depending on what the person on the other end says to you who knows how your mind is going to wonder. talking to someone in the car is a lot safer i feel in that your mind is not thinking about how they are reacting to what you are telling them because they are right their beside you.

You haven't proven anything. You have only claimed you text when safe to do so. I hope that is true.

Talking is NOT more dangerous than texting. If you are distracted by thinking you should not be driving!

you must not drive a manual, ever, to think you need both "d" beaters on the wheel to drive.

I can shift faster than you can text and I do not have to look at the shift to do so.
I also do not change the radio station or CD track etc. every 3 minutes.

Sorry, I guess I did miss the joke. I actually do drive 2 handed most of the time. Just habit I guess. My dad forced me to when he was teaching me to drive nearly 30 years ago.

hahaha... either way it is presented, no one will ever convince me ANY form of phone usage is safer. Not calling out anyone but just saying in general. I would hate to see someone get hurt getting into an accident....

haha no but in all seriousness my old phone and quite a few others by verizon have a button that you can press and your text message is read aloud to you. some of the phones also have speech text software on them so all you do is talk and the phone types the message..... so haha a safe way to text and drive.

also the average person will spend more time changing through cd's or radio stations in the time that i could type a message so i see no danger.

oh and to Norm, i wasn't saying that i couldn't think and drive but when texting, with the exception of the 3-4 seconds it takes to type a message, my mind is focused entirely on driving, but when you are on the phone your mind is concentrated on the conversations and not the road.

What you all need to look at is the way the new laws are being written. Essentially, having your phone in your hand is what's not allowed.

Have a read of this:
