Who Texts And Drive?
oh okay, yeah but its safer than talking on the phone. when talking on the phone you are destracted the whole time that you're on the phone but when you're texting you are just destracted in the 4 or so seconds it takes to type the message. plus i only do it when i know that i am presenting no danger to others, like at a red light or stopped in traffic, etc., etc. so technically i am not distracted at all by texting while driving, and therefore i am no danger to anyone else. and thanks about the truck, i love your gun in your sig.

Texting while driving is a lot more dangerous than talking. You can use a hands free kit and never take your hands from the wheel or eyes off the road. It is less distracting than talking to a passenger because most people tend to look at the person they are talking to every once and a while out of habit. If you think texting is safer than hands free talking Darwinism will get you soon enough. If you text while you drive you absolutely are a danger. You have just been lucky.
i wasn't saying that talking and driving was dangerous because you have a hand off the wheel, it is more dangerous because you are constantly thinking about what to say and depending on what the person on the other end says to you who knows how your mind is going to wonder. talking to someone in the car is a lot safer i feel in that your mind is not thinking about how they are reacting to what you are telling them because they are right their beside you.

hahaha... either way it is presented, no one will ever convince me ANY form of phone usage is safer. Not calling out anyone but just saying in general. I would hate to see someone get hurt getting into an accident....

or Buck's nerf darts
also the average person will spend more time changing through cd's or radio stations in the time that i could type a message so i see no danger.
oh and to Norm, i wasn't saying that i couldn't think and drive but when texting, with the exception of the 3-4 seconds it takes to type a message, my mind is focused entirely on driving, but when you are on the phone your mind is concentrated on the conversations and not the road.
What you all need to look at is the way the new laws are being written. Essentially, having your phone in your hand is what's not allowed.
