I have some really good tips...I could go on and on for hours.....ask my wife.

I am too lazy to post all of it....so I will try to get the ball rolling.

1. Its not really WHAT you eat or how much you eat...its how you USE the calorie intake. If your intake is 2000 calories, work what you need to remove the calories.

2. Eat regularly. If you ALWAYS eat one meal a day and dont exercise, you hurting yourself. You body will think, "damm, this is all the food I will get for the next 24 hours and I will be doing some walking and such later, so I need to store some of these calories for fat energy later."

3. Sleep! YES! Sleep! The easiest, yet most over looked step. Get atleast 8 hours of sleep a night.

4. Instead of eating 3 big meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner), or eating all day all the time, spread those calories out over 5 smaller meals. Eat one meal every 2 and a half to 3 hours. Doing this will speed up your metabolism.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey, if you have some tips that could help...pass it on.

Alright you fat pigs... can we make this a sticky? Seriously!

I do my weigh-in every Sunday night. I'll post my progress as well. I ticked in this past Sunday at 316lbs, standing a tad over 6'10". I wish to be around 260... but I really don't know, so that's the target and then I'll re-evaluate the situation. I recall being around 260 years ago and very happy. Now I'm a fat bastard like the rest of you lard-o's. I started last year this time at 340, lost 30, then gained some back during the holidays and 3-week absense from the gym.

While I know what to eat and not starve myself, and know what to do in the gym... I have little-to-no-motivation. Perhaps listening to fellow cupcakes shed some flab would do us all good. I'm in.

Habibibibiii or anyone else.. perhaps a private e-mail list for encouragement or questions?

Now lets go hit those treadmills!!!!

... now where did I put my smokes?

Ohhh, if I *MAY* make a suggestion - go to a nutritionist/gym/healthclub and get your metabolic rate tested. It will let you know how many calories you can take in each day. It has helped me tremendously... the weeks I document what I ate & count calories... I lose wieght. It's amazing once you see it in black & white. I have an Excel sheet that contains my most common foods and makes the totals for me. I also mark my total for each day and if I hit the gym. It clearly shows why I'm still fat.
Anywho, once you know how much you can eat everything gets much easier. Just starving yourself sucks, you'll hate it and quit before you know it. Next thing your pounding brew and double-stuffed burritos like they were M&M's. BOOM! 400lbs and a heart-attack! I've seen it a thousand times..

You guys are awesome, right on, can't belive all the tub-a-lards we got around here

All kidding aside (and there will be plenty more kidding to come)

I'm totally impressed with the responces in this thread and I wish you all the best luck and encouragement so we can all make our personal goals.

If english Adam is brave enough to post his "before" pic, then what the heck, I'll follow suit and do the same.
I think he gave us a great idea because then after 6 months or whenever, we can have the "before" and "after" pics side by side.

I'm gonna post here on Friday with the results of my first week, things are going great so far.

This pic was taken Dec 25th:

6'2 and a half, 333 pounds

Good luck guys. I've been concerned about my weight for the last year, but I have to admit that I got it pretty good compared to most. When I'm not sitting here I climb trees for a living. I'm at an all-time high of 185 give or take a couple pounds. Been 155-165 for the last 10 years. Seems like my metabolism slowed down quite a bit after quitting smoking 1 year, 10 months and 13 days ago. I'm afraid if I ever give up working outside that I'll blow up like a balloon. 5'7" and a small frame, so 180 doesn't look good on me. I figure I'm 20 or 25 lbs heavier than I need to be. This is from Thanksgiving 2004

I'll wrangle with posting a pic tomorrow at work as I'll have to scan it. I've got a good one in mind, with my younger brother next to me, he hit the genetic lottery compared to me, you'll see.

I too am getting to be a fatty bastard. 8 years ago I went in to the Army at 160lbs, I soon became 190 due to the muscle I gained from working out all the time(I had no choise). 4 years after leaving, I now am 220ish, I don't workout and I eat junk food. I don't have time to workout during the week and only get 6 hour of sleep a night. Because of this thread I am going to do what ever it take to get under 200lbs, but I really want to loose the belly.
Hopefully the tips posted here will help and motivate me and others to achieve their goals.

I honestly have no Idea how much I weigh right now, but I know its too much. I need to get a plan and figure out how to get motivated enough to stick to it. Summer is right around the corner and I have to look good for the ladies. Im all ears if anyone has any motivational tips.

if you decide to do the gym and workout thing, the first 2 or 3 weeks will be the toughest as your body keeps making excuses not to go. Once you've been at it for a few weeks, you won't want to miss a workout and you'll start to get worried and paranoid if you do miss a workout...
