Pardon my questioning, but what in the world made that hole in the fan shroud?? My guess would be your knee sank threw it? When I am hanging over that piece cleaning the engine bay I worry about breaking the plastics. My advantage of being 165lbs however makes things decent.

Yup you guessed right. Kneeling on it changing the cams. Apparently wasn't my best decision. Although it wasn't the first time, nor the only truck I've done that with.
I cancelled the new shroud. Will have to research some e-fan controllers. Mgd, if you're kicking around, thoughts?

I was just reading a thread that twinskrewed has with the painless controller. From what I can see it seems to be a pretty decent controller. Only issue he's really ran into was finding a location for the temp sender. So that's not too big of a deal I don't think.

Going to price that out!

That seems to be the biggest problem.. You usually don't want to put the probe right into the radiator for chance of over time rubbing a hole in it. And I don't think it's as accurate.

Yeah I know what you mean. Never been a fan of the probe style senders. I will take a look under the hood tomorrow, hopefully see if I can figure anywhere else aside from the pipe with threaded inserts. I'd rather not cut the rad hose.

And the painless kit is 275 through summit. A bit pricey, but if it's as good as I've been reading, then I'll probably go that route.

Oh I plan on it. It'll be a few weeks. Going to be busy between Christmas to New Years. So most likely middle of January if all goes well.

Ordered the fan controller. Painless 30142, was wanting the 30140, because of the 3/8 thread on the sensor. But the 30142 kit was 75.00 cheaper, and the only difference I could find was the sensor thread size(metric/standard). So either way if I need a standard pipe threaded sensor, I can source one through work for about 7.00.

Going to check the wreckers Monday for the fan set up, and if not I'll check the local Ford dealer. I've sourced the fans online for around 250(converted to Canadian with shipping). So we'll see. The wreckers around here usually charges a mint for stuff so I'm not going to hold my breath.

Just reading through this thread for the first time, a while back you mentioned that the old cams may have had some wear? Did you ever get pics of that?

I haven't, but I'll grab some pics of them later today. It was really only the drivers side cam that had the wear. Passenger side was good, as were all the lash adjusters, and all but one rocker. I don't know what caused the one lobe and rocker to wear.

Meangene, here are the pictures of the cam... Not the easiest to get a picture of the wear.

According to the local Ford dealer it was supposed to have came with the controller. It never, but I'm going to have to source connectors for it now. Unless the painless controller has some that will work. I've also noticed that these fans are slightly different than others have posted. Now I'm waiting on the controller to get here, should be sometime this coming week.

Also ordered one more muffler, I was planning on using the one I had on my truck, along with one new. I unfortunately forgot that I had welded a mount bracket off the front to meet up with the factory mount. Rather than mess with it, I ordered another new muffler. Once it gets here I will be getting my exhaust fixed up for good.

You can get the Ford connector pigtail on eBay.
Good to see the e-fans are on the move. Can't wait to see them done

Nfld, just another borla xr-1. Will be running two new ones, instead of one new, and the one that's on there now.

TL, I've been searching Amazon, and I may just call the Ford dealers here to see about availability. Rather stay away from ebay. It'll take too long for shipping.
