Well that's annoying cause OEM Ford gaskets are like $70 haha. I'd have loved to not buy those.

Yeah I hear ya on that one. Although I've only done one sides worth.

Now I can focus on data logging. I had a really bad tank of fuel on the last fill up. Was down to 10 mpg in town. Just brutal. Filled up yesterday and it's still climbing back up. Currently at 16. Didn't want to have a crappy log file from that.

Also the snow is basically gone, so I'll finally be able to clean the truck as well. It's filthy.

Dang, that is some bad fuel. I don't think I've ever gotten bad gas before.

There are a few gas stations around here that are notorious for crap fuel. The one I filled up at usually has good fuel. It wasn't my regular gas station though. Happy to have the mileage back though. 400 km to a tank is rough.

Just finished replacing the t-case shift motor. Really straight forward, but I didn't expect to have to swap two wires to the new motor connector. I'm assuming they are the speed sensor wires. Not a big deal, and in sure if I would have looked online I would have read that.

Anyways, all clean!

Haven't had to use 4wd for a couple weeks due to the weather getting nice, and the lack of snow now. But it runs good in all the positions.

Also I need to swap the coolant, diff oils, and transfer case oil next time I change the engine oil. And I've also ordered a new radiator shroud.

Looks good and shiny! What happened to the fan shroud?

Well, I kind of put a knee through it... So it has this really nice hole at the top. Apparently Ford should put a warning label on it. "Do not kneel here when changing cams."

My bad. I'm not too worried about it right now, because it's cold enough outside, but once the temperature starts to get warmer, the temps may run higher than normal.

I also needed to get a ballast warrantied, due to a bad flicker when turning the lights on.

I pulled the headlight apart in question, just don't know what route I will take with the heads now. Chrome shroud/signal, flat black everything, or gloss black everything.

Switching from Gatling 2 shrouds to Apollo 3. Also need to talk to Sammy about some xballed rings...

I really like the look of these! What projectors are these and do you have anymore pics of your headlights like this before you changed them?

Those are the fx-r 3.0 with the 3" lense. Those are unfortunately the only pictures I have of them like that. I opened them up and put the Apollo 3 shroud on to see what it would look like with the black and chrome. I ended up going gloss black on everything.

Haha nice. Do you need the "Caution: Contents are hot" label on your McDonald's coffee too? I'm about to drill holes in mine to mount my ballasts and controller. Actually, where did you mount your stuff? That's the best, non-metal place I can see to mount them.

Most people mount the ballasts on the side of the headlight

Haha, no I do not need that label. Although I have knelt on that shroud many times, as well as any other truck I've worked on. Never had an issue till the last time. Oh well. May take this as an opportunity to pull the rad and condenser to wash them out. Get better airflow through them. May also paint match some of the plastics as well.

As for the ballasts, I mounted them to the inside edges of the headlights. I apologize for the quality of the pictures.

I really need to give the truck a good cleaning as well. This colder weather really puts a damper on things.

And screwing into the headlight doesn't leak? I would think not, but still putting a hole in it. Actually, just silicon it if it did, duh haha.

Pics are good enough for me! I don't know why I didn't at least think of doing that. I'm gonna have to bend off some mounting tabs to make that work, but I really like that. Might just use 3M mounting tape instead of screws, but that seems janky to me lol.

3m mounting tape or Velcro would work good too. But if you did use a screw just rtv silicone all over the screw..
