Project BULLETPROOF...dream or reality?
Wasn't aware that I was...I figured it was just a really loud Magnaflow.
I haven't seen that chart yet...I'll look for it. I still want loud.
BTW, thanks again for everyone's help.

Oh , I thought you were after performance. Magnaflow Mufflers are junk - pi$$ poor workmanship and over-rated. I have one and can't wait to get rid of it.
Well , you'll get loud - that gets old after awhile though. Have fun with it.

Magnaflow is junk? Wow...first I've heard that. I have head that some of their older mufflers had a press-fit rather than welded inlet, but other than that...
The Dynomax Bullet is straight through as well, but offers 2-4 db. reduction. Is the Borla a straight-through, chambered, or other design? I can't find the dyno graphs...got a link?

Yea , that's what pi$$ed me off about them. That press fit leaks on both ends - So what the f^ck good is it. I got one because of all the hype and kick myself for doing so. Theres NO- way to fix that leak - NONE . You have to get it welded and that was a PITA/Hassle to schedule. No for warning from the manufacturer that's to cheap to seal their own muffler - That's just poor, they suck IMO.
I can't find it now either. I know it's here, I found it a couple days ago. I posted the link in the exhaust/Intake Forum on page 6 or 7. Well the forum only goes to page 5 now, so I can't locate it. It was posted by Msall I think.

"prepare to lose torque down low.
If you want some good sound without losing power, i recommend a dynomax bullet race muffler. You can order one off summitracing.com for 40 bucks. It will give you nearly the sound of straight pipe but will help to maintain that torque."

Well anything is better than a straight pipe for torque
Found it -
The Chart is here - https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...=323999&page=2
I guess the numbers aren't that big of a difference, that is an old page out of a MAG, I just noticed it was from 2002. I duno you might be alright, mufflers have come a long way since then. From what I've read tho - Borla is on top, but pricey - Then again , you get what you pay for, quality craftmanship is what I look for, as well as performance.

With a full stainless exhaust I'm not worried about spending $$$ on a muffler, so that's not a factor at all. I just want loud. Those numbers are really unimpressive to me, especially considering the RPM's. My truck rarely see's over 4,500, and they were all within in 2 HP & 5 ft/lbs at that range. Nothing to lose sleep or money over. If the Race Bullet is too loud, I'll switch to the 10" body Magnaflow.
We like our trashy exhausts down here south of the Mason Dixon.

That's why I like that chart - It shows what it's mufflers are doing down low and I didn't say to focus on higher RPM's - I don't care to much about what's going on up there anyway.
Go ahead buy the cheap **** Magnaflow , plan on finishing the job for them tho , because they don't
Maybe your into to leaky pipes ? Must be , you told me you heard the same thing about them...Your still considering ?
Oh well lol - To each his own -
Good luck with that

I don't believe they still come that way do they? I think their stainless mufflers are probably top notch...if they don't weld that inlet, then I would completely agree with you. Either way, I bought a Dynomax Bullet, so I guess I won't find out. Too bad it's only aluminized.
Yea my junk is stainless -

The seam that leaks like biatch is the one that's 1/2" from the transition point (2.5x4.0) - I honestly don't know how in the hell they get away with selling this product -

Wow, isn't that even one of their Race series mufflers that costs a ***** ton? Wouldn't take 30 sec. to weld that up.
Got the rest of the exhaust done today...I should have left it straight pipe...that extra 4' of pipe really kills the sound, even dumped. Glad I got the loudest muffler I could find. Well, I think there is a Spintech that's actually suppose to amplify the sound somehow, but I'm deaf as it is.
The truck really sleeps till about 2,500 RPM now, then about 3,500 all hell breaks loose. It's louder that the factory manifolds with straight pipe on the top end, and quieter on the low side. Oh well, easier to sneak around when need be. It is deeper sounding and not as raspy. Before, I had a LOT of popping, esp. on deceleration, now it doesn't do it at all. I have a hell of a time keeping the wheel from spinning on take off, and that's not because I like to mash the loud pedal...I was feathering it. I can definitely feel a difference.

Does that 30 seconds include both sides? Not all of us have the luxury of a welder. It should be advertised "needs welding" The hassle and not knowing it was leaking - finding out eventually cheesed me off - I didn't know , that's the hole point. It's not right no matter how fast it can be welded not to advertise or disclaim that it does. NO where on there site does it say this - even the possibility of.
That is just wrong and poor business etiquette.
