Maybe its just me, but I think that straight pipes, that run all the way out the back sound trashy. I have never liked the sound of a straight piped truck, but its just my taste I guess.

Could not agree more. The best $32.50 I ever spent on my truck was to remove the stock muffler and install a straight pipe in it's place. Sounds great!

i have a 40 series dumped on my truck and i just loosened the clamp thats about 2 feet before the muffler so i can unhook the muffler when i want. it stays in place by the hanger on the flowmaster just rotate it down so the exhaust can flow unrestricted. loud when you want, mellow when mom complains about the noise in the morning

Yes. Straight pipes kill your torque. Literally, kill it. Put a dynomax bullet on there and call it a day.

listen man, im not bull****ting you. Here, you want proof? Look at the HP and torque numbers for open exhaust (no muffler)...and thats just top end trq, imagine the low end on these trucks...

I'm just trying to help you out bro. A d-max bullet will be nearly as loud as straights, and you will retain some power. Bullets are only 40 bucks on summitracing, so you wont spend much...

But hey if you just want that raspy, trashy sound with no performance, by all means do what you want. frankly, i dont care.

You can look at the low end TQ on that sheet....and my butt dyno didnt pick up a diff. without a muffler Vs HF muffler.... the Dynomax only adds like 3 Ftlbs of TQ and at one point there even on the lower RPMs.

He did say Cheapest...and cutting ur muffler off is pretty darn cheap... but if you want to throw a Dynomax bullet on there go for it it'll take some of the poping sound out when you rev it but other than that it'll be about the same...

with my stock muffler cut out i gained 1-2 more MPG's on my 4.6L Cuz that thing is freaking huge!!

Smile

I did the samething....
And I hate it and I def. changed. Why, because yeah you get a good sound but it doesn't last that long, it would dual out on me. So I went and bought a banks exhaust system. So don't do it!!! You'll regret it....yeah it's cheap but it's not worth it. Get a good exhaust system.
