Is 4.6L Superior to 5.4L

actually, the cammer motor huals quite a bit of ***** above 5000 rpm, and because of the lower rotating mass of the crank and pistons, it will stand up to high rpm a lot longer than the 5.4 would under the same torturing conditions.

yah i was saying in my sig i have a link to the thread i started when i was gutting my cats, and has my experience in it, since each body configuration RC/EC/SC have different cross members, so far EC>SC for removing the whole cat assy off the collector flange... mine i had to cut in half to get it out....

Anyways and my other comment was paul and i are getting set up for a new mod for my truck

I think Klitch expects way too much from the old 230 SAE crank h.p. that we all have, he needs to remember that the 4.6 wasn't designed to spin 37 inch tires or move a heavy 4x4 from 0-60 in 7 seconds. For what the motor was designed to do it does an awesome job and with lights mods on stock tires it can beat 5.4s, it reaches the point where it comes down to the driver of each truck. With both engines modded to the max on stock rotating assemblies it will be an even race. The 5.4 will have the holeshot, and the 4.6 has the top end, an even race in my mind.

Ive said that all along too, but even so most races you are racing through more then one gear, so you have more top end in a race then you do launches/low-mid gear range pulling... so 4.6 > 5.4 still

Yeah, even if we were on a road course, we would still beat them patman we don't have that crappy 4wd bogging us down either.

I grew up in a ford household but I got to tell you Ford is falling behind . I have driven the new chevy with the 6.0 ,the titan , 1500 ram with a 5.7 and rode in the new tundra,and my AWD Durango. All will take a stock 5.4 ford. I really hope ford bellys up to the bar with a new power plant. 300 hp is great but now and days that isn't enough .

that and with a lighter motor we are closer to 50/50 weight distribution too

Jbrew, the guys complaining about there 4.6 have 4wd, us 2wd guys don't have any problem with it....
