I have also wondered about the converter.Same as you mine only does it on take off!!Oh well i have not been nice to it

Patrick will never understand until he races a 5.4 that runs correctly
I wish i was closer so we could settle this............

I did agree with your explanation on how and where the 4six makes power.

The 5.4L makes more and has a much broader powerband..

not really much broader then the 4.6 but it does have more bottom end torque, and carries the torque higher then the 4.6 does, but i think overall they both have very similar power bands, just in different ranges

I was figuring the TQ convertor sucked on these trucks, and no matter how high I cranked up the idle it didn't fix that stoplight shudder. Hey what trans do you guys have in your trucks, I have trhe 4r70w and it seems to be a better trans than the e409d, probably why they put it in the lightning.
