Is 4.6L Superior to 5.4L
JBREW YOU SOB
Bout puked on myself...I think I would be dragging the back bumper on the ground with that in the bed
Patrick, I was actually looking for a 2wd for awhile but couldnt find one like I wanted, so I ended up with what I wanted plus 4wd. Not a bad deal I guess, comes in pretty nice sometimes around here.
Only way Ill own another 4six is if I have lots of money to dump into it. Even though my old 4six was a pretty strong runner, I just have to laugh when I punch the gas in this thing...my old truck woulda been sitting on the line wonder what the he!! just happened as this thing is crossing the finish line, showing nothing but the tail lights
Klitch, I got a 6.5 foot bed...all the room I need

Im hoping there is a place around here that will let me trade my old cover from the '99 plus some cash for a new cover that will fit the 06.
4.9l
Haha. Im a proud 4.9L I6 owner. Im not saying I'm hittin 0-60 anytime soon, not really race worthy. I like it for the fact that its a long lived engine. It might not make the most power. But people around my area (middle of nowhere almost) say its about the next best thing to a diesel though. In fact, I'll bet people with that idea, would help Ford would make a killin now, since diesel prices are skyrocketing, if they brought back a bigger, suped up version of the 300 I6.
Either way, my 300 I6 is still running, and thats all I care about. It gets me from point A to B, and hasn't failed me yet, and its 203,000 miles now. I know thats probably not anywhere near broken in compaired to the 'towing/pulling' miles I've seen on other trucks. But still, it has never died on me, or not started. Every time I turn that key, I've got a dependable, running engine.

Those old 300 I6s are tough engines; built like a brick ***** house.
Patrick...my old truck could give a stock 5four a decent run for its money...but this new truck seems so much quicker.
Name the time and place
The thing is actually a bit of a dog off the line..., but it picks up quite a bit on the top end. I think a lot of it is that stupid electronic throttle control. Thing also seems to shift slower than my old truck.
A tune would do this thing wonders

yah ive actually already been beaten by a 5.4 3v... in 3rd gear the computer further advances the timing (so ive been told) so thats why it feels like it has more power up top...
But yah i want to find a 04+ 4.6 rc/sb to run... Ive raced (and beat) edward, but hes on 35s or 37s and 4.56 gears, so its not really fair run....

Hey...someday I want to live in Texas I think... Maybe years down the road we will meet up
Could be something like that. One of the reasons that I sorta wanted to stay with a pre 04 model was to stay away from the computer running friggin everything, oh well though.
Id think you would take a 4.6 in a new style pretty easily...These bishes wiegh a crap-ton. This new reg. cab seems even bulkier and heavier than my old ext. cab. You probably dont wiegh a whole lot more than one, plus you have the power advantage over them...
