If you are still running the stock cats measure the pip diameter just before the bend. It is a lot narrower than the rest of the system. On my 4.6 system it was only 2¼ inch. Cut the pre-cats out and replace with 2½ inch pipe and you will see better results.

your stock 5.4 will beat a SRT 10 ? Dude I drove a harley editon . nothing special other than wheels,pipes ,black leather and harley badges all over . I don't think your telling the whole story. From what I see at the track all summer long lightnigs need superchargers to take the V-10 ram . so you must be modded up pretty well or your running something else . my bro's f150 xl reg. cab with a 5.4 on the sqeeze runs 14.10 with a single stage shot. Theres more to your story. Remember I said stock 5.4 Does the SRT-10 come in super crew ????? Sorry to sound like i am voting for the other side but ford needs to step up. If your stock 2 valve 5.4 can beat a 480 hp truck than man you got a winner there ! I would keep it forever , hell I would call a truck magazine to do a story . You would get the cover. And I see what you put about your wife, stickers are cool but can see Ride a Harley or is she just a traction device on the back of yours ? Mine can ride , hell she can even drag a knee on her buell . Can yours do that ??

 

Hey JMC , My truck slips and shudders a little bit off the line . What would your guess be - clutch pack (rear) or converter?

 

according to trucking magazine a 2005 SRT-10 quad cab runs a 15.02 in the1/4 mile I have run 14.8 in the 1/4 and truck trend ran a 14.5 in an '03, the fast SRT-10 is the regular cab 6 speed, the quad cab only comes in automatic and is a bit slower

i forgot the supercharger on the engine is nothing special either...

Wow your so knowledgable. Yes, Lightings do need superchargers and guess what? You could buy them from the factory with them! Cool eh? What's the displacement comparision between a V10 Dodge and 5.4L V8 Ford? Hence the supercharger to even things up.

If you even had a clue you would have realized that Harley trucks came supercharged ( there's that big word again ) from the factory but I'm not sure what year that started. Change the pulley and bye bye SRT-10. And I'm guessing your next post will be along the lines of " Ford had to supercharge their motors to keep up.....waaaaaaa".

yah i noticed mostly top end power/breathability...

and exaust got louder too. I really want to X pipe it and run twin bullets
and yah you can do the rebar through it, but its kinda tricky b.c of the angle of the down pipe between the collector flange, and the start of the precat... I just cut a little 3" x 3" window out...

Hell , I would rather get rid of those noisy things all together. I think I'm just going to slice and dice and retrofit a piece of regular pipe in there place as JMC suggested - that seams easier with a posible better outcome , idunno. I just hope I have enough backpressure for the lowend, I still wanna be able to do wheelies

Twin Bullets would sound good - Magnaflows speced out the best for the 5.4L on the low side - mids and highs ran with the rest, that's why I went with em..That was a noticable Mod..

 

My kids girlfreind had me take her 88 Mustang 5.0LX 4 speed for a ride to check it out . Is it my imagination or are those things fast as fark

Nope, I miss my 91 LX 5 speed. That car haul **** and got 25 mpg on the highway to boot.

Nope she just got it this year, along with her licence - it looks like hell - ripped up white leather seats that shes gotta blanket over, I don't blamer.- The cars red , but the paint pealed off the bumpers and there yellow now lol.

As bad as it looks , It has true duels and it sounds peppy as hell and is with that stick - I haven't drove a stick in awhile , that little thing is fun..

 

HI!... When I ran with no cats for a year, I totally lost a HUGE amount of low end TQ. Something to think about. Just eliminate the secondary cats and replace the pre cats with high flows. Stay away from MAGNAFLOW high flow cats. They fall apart.

LOL....it sounds like you need one w/convertible otr t-tops and maybe take the seat out and move it to the back seat Like hightower from police academy.I actually unbolted my seat and moved it back in my ex-cab ranger
