Alpine W205
I just installed mine last week, It's pretty sweet, However the sound when playing a DVD is half as loud as a CD. Is this because alpine designed it to only be used while the vehicle is stopped? With the volume all the way up to 35 it leaves me wanting to pump it up some more cause i can't hear some dialogue. I also have 2 v12 amps pushing my speakers so its not running off the w205 itself.... I don't watch dvd's while I drive, my passengers do, and its just a little annoying, will the $500 sound processor that alpine has remedy this?

Does this happen with all DVD's or just one?
I have the gains set at 2v to match the output of the RCA's from the w205, if I go up any more it'll distort at higher volumes when listening to a cd. I also have the output set at 12db, which is almost max, the amps go up to 15db. I've only played like 5 different dvd's, and they all had to be turned up. One was a music video dvd, a cartoon, a dirtbike video, and spiderman 2. I have the audio selected at 2 channel stereo on the menu's which may be the problem. The w205 will downmix to 2 channel anyways right?
You all have me hooked
Ok.. so I was about to order an Eclipse AVN 6600 on Cruthcfiled this week since it was a lil cheaper but after reading this thread and doing some research on the Alpine W205 I am hooked. I will be ordering this istead from Cruthfield and looking forward to getting the BlackBird II. I do have some quick questions though especially for RollingRock.
Do i get the Alpine KCA-420i to attach the Ipod? (part found on Cruthfield)
Do I need to install the PAC SWI-JACK JVC/Alp/Clari/Ken so my factory steering wheel control can work with the stereo? (part found on Cruthfield)
Do I have to get something else so it can play DVD's while driving?
What kind and where do I get mounting hardware to make it flush?
Thanks for all the help... you all have once again helped me spend my and your tax dollars since our taxes pay mypaycheck (USMC)...LOL

Ok, yes you can use the KCA-420i to attach the ipod. I am not sure what adapter was used for my steering wheel but I know the DVD bypass was by PAC also.
There are many fit kits out there....some have to be slightly modified but mine didn't. It was by BEST. Do you have a F150 or 250?
Rolling Rock,
I enjoy my time in this green Machine that we call The Corps so its a pleasure to do what I do!
- When you say the bypass was by PAC is that the compant who manufatures it? Do they have a website?
- Is there a website for the mount kits so the radio will sit flush, particulalrly the one you used since it didnt have to be modified..
I have a 05 F150 King Ranch with the fatory 6CD Changer and audioplhile system.
Thanks!

Otherwise they appear to be fine. I have seen the 205's going for less on ebay.
I preferred to buy from my local dealer b/c I didn't do the install they did.
has anybody connected anything to their aux input yet? I just got a Zune and haven't got the rca cables yet, but am curious how the sound and picture quality is when you have something goin through the aux input. Also, when I get it hooked up, will it sound better if I turn the zune to full volume, or leave it at low volume?

I run one IPOD for music in the IPOD connection, and I use a separate IPOD cable (see thread and gallery) that plugs into the video Aux Input for IPOD movies.
Its slick.
You can also bump up the signal on the Aux input. Set it to HIGH
Edit, as for your volume, you'll want to play with it to see what works best...you don't want to distort it with too much volume in the input.

Just got my 205 finally installed today, havent had anytime to play with it tho or take pics.My girlfriends Jeep Libirty was stolen and totaled so we have been dealing with that and getting the ball rolling to get her a new vehicle.
Once I get a change I will take some pics and post.
I do have one question tho, I have my sat radio pluged into the Ai-net but I can not figure out how to get any sound from it. I have it set up the excate same way as I did in my girlfriends jeep to her CDA-9856, and it works great. So I am assuming its a setting I have to change. Can anyone help me out?

you'll see a selection for sat radio that you need to turn to "on"
