If I may add my quick take to some of the things you responded to:

When most people ask this they actually mean, does life have a purpose. Here's the Cliff's Notes response. NO there is no purpose. Life is meaningless. Sorry. It's not pretty, but that's the way it is.

I'm with Matt on this one. No (for the most part). The only thing fated is that we are all going to die.

Yes. And the best way to start any movement is to start with yourself. Do you play video games? Don't. Do you watch TV? Stop it. Do you use a cell phone? Throw that ******* away. And right now . . . turn off your computer. Just say NO to technology.

Regarding the yawning thing, I had always heard it was "contagious" because it is a survival response. You see someone yawn, the brain believes that it occurs due to lack of oxygen, so it triggers yawning in you to take in more oxygen because it assumes there is a shortage of it . . . don't know if that's true, but it sure sounds good, so I'll accept it.

And now, as quickly as I returned, I leave again.

Just thought I would re-open this thread for you. Don't really need/want an answer.

 

By itself, without context, your question is unanswerable. Sure, there are those who believe that "Because" or "Why not" are sufficient answers to the question "Why?" when it is without context, but such replies are just glib (as is the question actually). So in that respect it's a good thing you neither need nor want an answer.

However, I thank you for reviving this particular thread, although I see it was revived during my absence and then disappeared almost as quickly, so I fear it won't be here long.
