To be continued as usual.

ID Chameleons are now all installed. First impression are pretty good. They are not as left side biased as the Contours. It seemed to move everything toward the center a bit more, which is good. You guys were right about the active setup. Was too easy to fiddle with. Also, you would not even hear the tweets with 180 watts going to the mids and 45 to the tweets. So, I went back to passives for the Chameleons and the set is getting 180 watts. I have to go to OK City to pick up my wife and little one today so, I will get some good time to listen.

What do you all think about this setup:

Zapco Reference 350.2 ( 175 x 2 @ 2ohms)
Zapco Reference 360.4 (50 x 2 and 180 x 1 @ 4 ohms)
Zapco Reference 500.1 (500 x 1 @ 2ohm)

This just peaked my interest. The XXK amps are incredible. But, it is just not that good of a setup for the way I am using it. The 2100 runs my comps and I have way more power than I now need for subs. And the 5150 runs my center and rears and has extra channels. With the above setup, nothing would be wasted. I thought about this one too but, mucho coin and almost impossible to find used.

Zapco C2K 3.0 (150 x 2 @ 2ohms)
Zapco C2K 2.5 (50 x 2 and 150 x 1 @ 4ohms)
Zapco C2K 3.0 (600 x 1 @ 2ohms)

I would love to go to a 2 amp solution, again, but running 5.1, there is just no good way to do it.

Just cant find a 5 channel with enough power for the front or what?

What about two 4 channels? A bigger one for the front, and bridged for the subs, then a smaller one for the rears, and bridged for the center channel?

C2K prices make me want to shoot myself Id go for the Refs.

So how long did that active set up last, 12 hours At least you tried it.

Several things on the 5 channel. Not enough front power. You can not bridge them to 2ohms. Not many with enough sub power that will still fit my install, too big.

Hey, I was active for a good 24 hours.

For the record, that was over 6 months ago. But, you are right. I wish I still had the pair of 3.0x amps.

I tell you what, if SI really wants to move some subs, they need to get on the ball a little better. I emailed Low Herz about the BM's back around the 12th or 13 of December. I ask for a price and the mounting depth. He emailed me back about the price and that SI did not know the mounting depth. Huh? I asked how long delivery would be and told him how much mounting depth I needed and I get a response just today 2 weeks later saying that yeah, they should fit my mounting depth. Seems their dealers are really on top of it. 2 weeks ago, I might have been interested.

Something else I noticed, this thread started with me asking Bryan about the C2K amps. Now here I am 8 months later, looking at buying them again. Full circle is correct.

Thats a rediculous amount of time to wait for info. I guess they didnt want to sell them to you.

Yes that is a perfect example of full circle

I got all of my trim panels made and the box reupolstered(sp) in black vinyl. Follows all of the contours of the floor so there is no gaps between the box and the floor at all. Will post up some pics later
