Still going strong after 77000 miles. Nothing goes in but Pennzoil Platinum and 91 Octane. Gonna have this baby a looooooong time. I love it!

Every day its f-150 problem de jour..

I have had Many Many Warranty problems (maybe 12 things fixed under warranty). The last two problems have been non-warranty and really did convince me that Ford Quality means nothing....These problems were:

1) Trasmission light went out (the one that lights up and tells you your in Drive, 1st, 2nd etc.)

2) The whole driver side window switch panel went out and had to be replaced.

These are trivial things but the fact that the small Ford dealer I had the work done at actually had the repair parts in stock shocked me. Makes you wonder how common these two problems are in our trucks.....
My 05 stx 4x4 is complete junk..other than looking better than dodge or chevy theres nothing i like anymore at 44k (miles)

2004 Supercab XLT 5.4L 2WD 84k miles. Replaced rear clutch plate(warranty) and both sets of brakes. Now I have some more problems. One is when I reach 70mph the steering wheel shakes. Two, when i let off the gas and reapply the truck jerks real bad. took it to a local mechanic and they did something to the rear end. It temporarily fixed the trouble but now it's back again. So far this truck is costing more money than it's worth.

84 K and strong. Warranty cam phaser replacement. Replaced brakes myself and machined rear rotors. Had jerky clutch pack in diff, replaced lifetime fluid with Royal Purple and added modifer - no more problems. Runs on 87 to 85 and back to 87 octane pulling trailers with NO problems flat land to mountains and back. Problem, the price of the upcoming 100K sparkplug replacement (up to $1K is terrible).

I got mine at 51K back in 07 and so far so good I guess. Scab 4.6 2wd

Rt front rotor/hub bearing went out
Driver window regulator broke
Trans started acting wierd on braking and a fluid exchange worked wonders at 68K

Lately at 95k miles, it feels like a dog, seems to have lost power although not running that bad, I suspect plugs .
Over due oil change may help too Just switched to full synthetic today, mobil 1 advanced so I will see.
Feels like it needs driveshaft work, get a little wobble sometimes and at the stoplights it rocks to an fro with the brakes applied.

It used to get 20 mpg on the interstate but that has fallen to 14, some of which I attribute to E10 gas.

My plan to drive my 2007 S'Crew into the ground is quickly changing. I was planning to buy myself a decent new "fun" car like a Mustang GT in the next year or so and just keep the truck as our 3rd vehicle. However at just under 90K very easy miles, the truck is really starting to show its age with things that have begun to show up just recently, and I'm getting the sense I may want to think about bailing out soon.

1) I think the torque converter is on its way out...actually I HOPE that's all it is and not a more serious transmission issue. See my post HERE

2) Rust. I know, New England winters are tough on vehicles. However, no other vehicle I've ever owned, bought new or used, has ever begun to rust so soon. Everything underneath that came painted "chassis black" is now covered in surface rust. Everywhere that 2 sections of sheet metal meet in a "pinch-weld" fashion, the edges of the metal are bubbling with actual rust, not just surface rust. There is a similar weld you can see across the back of the bed if you look between the top of the bumper and the bottom edge of the tailgate, and that has the same corrosion. I noticed it on my buddy's '07 S'Cab first, and then checked my own, so I know it's not just my truck. In all seriousness, my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I bought new and sold last year was in better condition underneath after 10 New England winters than my (then) 3 year old truck was.

Problem is, I don't know where to turn if I decide to get a new one. Chevy/GMC is out...My father just traded in his '07 Avalanche that was in the shop probably 3-4 times a year with problems. My uncle also has an '07 Avalanche that has him now turned against GM as well. He bought an extended warranty and plans to get rid of it before it's out. He too had planned to run it into the ground like me when I bought my F150 new, but all the issues he's had with it have changed his mind. On top of that a buddy of my father's has had a ton of small problems that his '09 GMC 1500 has been to the dealer for.

Dodge I don't know...my previous truck was an '04 Ram QC 4X4 with the hemi and it began having some issues around the 80K mark, which was why I traded it on on the F150. Plus I don't like their new rear suspension setup.

I can't get past the awful looks of the Tundra. Not to mention they have their share of issues as well, as does the only slightly better-looking Titan.

I'd probably still go with another Ford, but I'll be nowhere near as enthusiastic about it as I was when I bought this one. I'll know going in that I should only plan to have it 4-5 years, rather than making happy plans to run it into the ground, with the attitude of no longer "knowing" it's the best truck out there......it's just the least of the evils.

Which is a shame. As recently as a month ago I was still often finding myself crusing down the highway thinking to myself how much I still loved this truck and how it still felt brand new.

She is getting old!

Hey guys... 138,364 miles on my 2004 Supercrew 4.6L! And still going strong!

Ive got a few little issues with it here and there. Nothing that would send me running to a Chevy or Dodge.
The tranny started giving me some issues at 118,000 so i took it in for a rebuild. Tranny spun the overdrive out. I was dissapointed about that one, but hey,,, it happens. cost of the new tranny out the door $1089.00 and that was a pretty good price in my book. The stealership quoted 5800 big ones!
I did a full 100,xxx mile service on it myself. Went very well. Pugs, cops, maf, intake clean, fuel filter, radiator flush, intake inlet pipe mod, and a fresh coat of oil on the K&N and in the motor made the truck run like brand new again!
Lost a window motor a while back. (replace them yourselves... a retarded monkey could do it)
Altenator went out this last winter. Couldnt believe that the battery got me all the way home from work! I was shocked. I knew it went out and figured i was gonna have to put the old girl on a tow truck.... But she made it to the driveway, ran long enough for me to get a meter on the altenator to confirm the problem and then finaly died in the driveway. $185 for that wasnt bad.
Only been through one set of brakes on her.... Impressive for as much city driving as i do.
And the next big one is gonna be a set of 5100's adjustables all around. Its past due for shocks, and i really dont want to ruin a perfectly good set of Duratracks.
And ive got a rust spot on the roof where a tree fell and hit the roof and broke the paint lose. Gotta get that taken care of before the winter salt hits the roads.

In my opinion.... All the new cars an trucks are total crap! They are built by the lowest bidders. they take shortcuts anywhere they can an they design these things to be hard to work on so the shops make more money on them. Lets face it,,, Its not good business to make a car that never needs to be fixed and is good enough that you never want to get rid of. Auto makers would drop like flys in this economy!
The biggest downside to my truck is.... NO FLIPPIN POWER! Its weak in comparison. But it does have some good pulling power for as slow as it is.
Ive never been very easy on vehicles. Im honestly impressed that this truck takes the abuse i give it. And yes,,, Its a real truck! I dont care about a little dent or scratch. This truck goes to the woods for hunting, and to the mountains all year long! Ive even gone a few places that i wouldnt have taken my jeep. And that ford emblem on the grill is still screamin through the wind!

Although, the next buy will be a F250 diesel supercrew for sure.

Yes I`ve had some issues -Passanger side Cam phaser being the major problem, I think it was done over 30,000 miles ago. Pretty sure I posted on this thread
- Plus normal wear
- Replaced stirring rack
- Upper C A`s
- Driver side power window not working, been like this for about 2 yrs.Cable broke, got A/C

Truck still going strong.(Hope I didn`t just jinx it)

2004 SuperCab XLT

I currently have 141,000 km (87,400 miles) on my 2004 F150.

So far things have been minor ( or self inflicted), tires, battery and wiring issues due to gravel damage. (Backup alarm wiring and sensors)

Changed all the seals in the rearend, new fluid and friction modifier, yeah no more skidding in the parking lots.

Just changed the rear shocks for the second time, time to change the front ones too.

My biggest complaint would be the Cam Phaser noise, and poor body rust-through. My 1989 did not rust through (surface rust yes) and was quieter at 400,000km (248,000 miles) than this engine is at 87,000 miles. Milage is slightly better, but not worth the shorter life span.

My mod list is quite mild by comparision, I have a leather interior from a 04' Lariat, complete with the ATC conversion to run the seat heaters and the instrument cluster with trip computer from the same truck. I have a radio from a 08 fusion with sync too.

Now I am off to find a good body shop to repair the rust through, and the 140 or so hail dents from the storm last saturday.

'04 S.Crew hanging in there. 148,000 (purchased with 74k four years ago)
For running kids around everyday and hauling radio control cars race gear this truck is great. However there is no enjoyment anymore driving it. Power is so low that sometimes it will not shift up. On 110 plus degree days with a/c on it takes about 30 seconds to get enough speed to shift. No Joke. It's miserable. I'd be afraid to haul my drag car anymore, but I haven't raced the past 4 summers anyway.

I do however travel out of state once or twice per month to R/C races. The truck will haul us and gear reliably. Except when I forget to jot down mileage and run out of gas cause the gauge quit years ago.

Fixed:
Reared shudder with fresh Royal Purple and friction modifier
Driveshaft failure at 105k. Had one made to use normal u-joints.
Replaced drivers window/lock module twice.
Cleaned vacuum lines on drivers side hub which cured the grinding.
Rear passenger side door became hard to operate. Healed itself somehow.
Replaced plugs and boots at 145k which cured engine miss at idle.
Battery went bad 6 months after purchase, then again 1yr later. No prob since.
Dealership replaced throttle body on a whim, truck would not idle after first battery change. Cured.
NOT FIXED:
Radio turning on and off when ambient temp below 90 degrees. Crazy I know.
Front passenger side hub grinding.
Fuel gauge quit two years ago. Only stranded 3 times so far.
A/C barely works. An hour above 70mph and it's flawless though.
Engine power very low especially when warmed up.
Throttle inputs go crazy when applying throttle around a corner, up down up down.
Sometimes a heavy thud and hard downshift after steady highway cruising.
Tailgate handle hard to operate.

Some of you guys are scaring the Hell outta me...only 80-100K miles? I've unfortunately put my '08 through almost 86K in a lil over 3 years. Sometimes I practically feel like I live outta my truck.

What am I doing so wrong to have to treat my baby to so many miles?
But hey, she is taking them with a grin....

The silver '04 I complained about previously must'be had a hard previous life. It got wrecked a month ago and I acquired another '04 with 170k miles. This new truck is 100 times better than the one that got wrecked. Loving it. It is so smooth, engine is powerful, and no noises....well other than the normal cam phaser chunka chunka. Lol.
