Rumors of a fix abound, but no details yet that I know of.

If you consider taking the deal, I would ask for 5 year, 100,000 miles on the warranty extension. With my commute, I personally would eat up 75,000 miles well before the 5 year mark.

Good luck to you no matter what you choose to do.

Please keep us informed! I'm going to call the dealer myself today and ahve them look into this "fix" we keep hearing about.

As long as you can reopen the DSB, might be worth it if it is an actual fix this time. I wonder if there considering a recall?

Fix

She is supposed to get back to me with more detail on there so called fix, I told her I needed more info on that before I would agree to anything.

With Ford trying to make a deal with me, I feel more confident about my case.

I'll keep you all posted

Tjaas,

I think that I was too deep into the process for Ford to offer me anything like an extended warranty. My paperwork was already in the system and being reviewed by the board. It sounds to me that they are trying to head things off prior to anything being sent to the board for review, probably because they do have some kind of fix.

I was never told anything about a fix for the vibration issue from my dealer or the DSB. At the time of my hearing the board informed me that they will respond back to me within 10 days on their decision. I should hear something this week in regards to the boards decision on my truck. I'm now curious to see if this changes the boards decision on these vibration cases. I'll keep everyone posted.

Ron

Dump it now. Have them get you a new one that has been "updated" with the fix from the factory. Ford will tell you anything...... you need to pursue the DSB. Don't wait. You know they don't have your best interests in mind, they want to save money at your expense.

I believe that it may have something to do with the frame or rear suspension. I see a lot of these F150's looking kinda lop sided. Looks like one side is higher that the other. I bet if you took a leveler to it the tailgate you would see. Or just pay attention to some as you are riding down the street. Not all of them are like this but I have seen quite a few. Ford needs to take a look at the frames and rear suspension. Might also be why the bed are shaking so much.
I must admit, these trucks are sweeeeet looking, but I'll keep the 02 until Ford works this little problem out. Then it's on.......!!!!!!

Goin to dealer to pick up-Pick-up

Just letting you all know, my truck,04 SCREW/5.4, 2890 mi, just had a new drive shaft put in today, after reading the posts,(scary stuff) I hope mine is ok, I had vibes, and thought they would go away with break-in, this is my first ford truck, the others have been chevy's, Yes, I think that 35K is much too much to pay for a truck with magic fingers(option not on sticker).
Wish me luck!

Guess Im in the boat now!

Drove to work today, as normal, (this is after a dealer fix), suddered worse than before accelerating from 40 to 65 was really bad, and really friggin loud too, steady vibe at 60, 65, and finally smoothed out at 75, ??????!!! wtf, , if i drove it very slowly and accelerated like grandpa, only slight vibes then, I just wish I'd have seen this board sooner and I feel ripped off, I will give them two more chances to fix it(Md has 3 strike lemon law, I believe, will do more research, and now I know!

I am a new member of the Vibe Tribe.

Bought my 2004 F150 FX4 5 weeks ago. On my way home I noticed the vibration start at 55 mph, got really bad at 58 mph, smoothed out at 62. Immediately called the dealer before I was 3 miles out of the lot. Took it back next morning, they rotated and balanced the tires, that did nothing. Took it back next day and they rebalanced again, nadda. As I drove home after the second try I called the service department again. The service clerk asked me to be patient and let him do some research on the problem. (That told me, they new something was wrong) He called me the next day and said that Ford admitted to his Service Mgr. that there was a problem and that they were coming out with a fix for it sometime before the end of November. I told him I would be patient and wait.

As most of the people that post here, I want to keep the truck, but my golf clubs shouldn't be hoppin around in the bed on a perfectly smooth road.

That's funny, they never told me they had a "fix",they were very nonchalant, and acted like one time in would take care of it, well,i'm calling them again today and tell them that, what they did was waste my time, caused me to take a day off from work(no loaner available)and it they say it's not a normal thing, I will print down a few pages from this forum and let them take a look ,then see what they have to say, I really like the truck and this is not a ggod thing for a chevy convert

My recommendation would be to have them go through the steps of the TSB so everything is documented. It will help you especially if you have to go to the DSB.

fonemann,

I've gone through this 6 times. Only thing they have done is 5 tire balances, camber, front alignment. I've got my fingers crosses for this "fix" this month. If not, DSB's will be in order for all of us. It's a great truck otherwise, I'd get another one if I had a buy back. Just take it for the weekend before I accept it.

Also you may want to point your dealer to this thread. I have been on many other Ford truck sites and this thread by all means has the most information pertaining to the vibration issue along with experiences with dealers and the DSB. I actually pointed the DSB to this site and thread for education purposes.
