I haven't received the gaskets yet, but I'm pretty sure they will have those folds in them since I ordered originals. Damn, there goes that $50. Oh well, guess I'll order the appropriate ones tomorrow.

I found a well known cylinder head shop locally that I plan to have resurface my heads. Is there anything minor I should have them do while they're at it that doesn't involve stripping the heads or effecting my custom tuning? If I hurry, I might be able to change my custom worksheets for Troyer, if necessary, but I'm cutting it close.

I know in the non-PI intakes use to have a restriction that was used at the factory to lift them with or something of that nature, but wasn't sure if the PI's were the same.

Thanks for the DVD tip jbrew.

Make sure that the local shop knows the Ford spec on the surface finish of the heads. It is spec section of the Powertrain Engine 4.6L and 5.4L Shop manual.

Wow, Ford's OEM exhaust gaskets only include 2 ports, so you need 4 of them at $26 a pop. The ones I received didn't have the folds like my originals did, but I am still swapping them for Ford Racing header gaskets. Thanks for the p/n Neal. I got the wrong intake gaskets, (NPI) so I have to swap those now too.

Anyone have any idea how to "fake out" the EGR / DPFE setup?

Considering dropping from Denso IT-16's to IT-20's due to the estimated flywheel HP from my mods. Is this just all about idle quality or is there some other advantage? Really can't see how a colder plug would be benefitial if you're not having detonation issues.

I picked up a bottle of Prestone coolant flush, but I'm debating on whether or not to even use it. What do you guys think about this stuff? ...and the Royal Purple additive to decrease surface tension?

2 days till the fun begins.

It-16's are fine without boost. I like to use the coolant flush stuff for a day before I replace coolant, it can't hurt.

Thanks, I'll flush it before I get started. Is tapwater alright since I'll be draining it anyway? I assume I need to drain the oil before starting too right? Is a fill-up alright on each after completion or will there be cross-contamination requiring anther flush or drain / fill?

Troyer's site says for NA 4.6L's with 265-275 flywheel HP to use the IT-20, just wondered what the benefit was. I'm sure the IT-16's will work, but if the 20's are "ideal"...

I got the Ford service DVD. On install it's asking what connection type for Ford OASIS. Will I have access to OASIS if I select "ISP" or should I just select "no conenction"? I wasn't sure if you had to have a login for OASIS or something.

No Connection

Oasis access - lol , no way... I wish.

You have to be or know someone in the PTS. Even techs have limited access I hear.

Give it a shot -

OK, after installing I get a "runtime error" "abnormal program termination". I'm looking into it, but figured I'd see if you ran into this. I turned the clock back to 2002 as well. Figure I just need to edit an .ini or something.

I wouldn't turn back the clock unless it says the disk is expired and won't let you in. If it came from ebay - it's prolly hacked already. I install when I use them , then uninstall when I'm done. I only have a couple that I have to rewind the clock on.

If you have to turn it back , then you need to use the Adobe program that came on the disc. That's partially why I uninstall when I'm thru. - Those discs will start misfiring on yuh when the readers start conflicting with each other.

Dunno, but I got it workin. It seems to be an original Ford disc, though the damn thing came from Malaysia. I st the clock forward and it shats itself. I did install the latest Adobe reader and SVG though.

The cam alignment procedure seems pretty intimidating. It seems as though all of those special tools are required. Am I wrong or should I price em out?

Ford did my heads twice - so I haven't had the pleasure yet. I don't know what you actually need. I don't think I would buy anything if I didn't have to. Prolly whip something up to hold the cams, if it wasn't to difficult.

HOLY $#!^!!! So far it says I need all this, and a lot of it I don't see any way around it.

-Camshaft Position Aligners
-Camshaft Pulley Aligners
-Camshaft Holding Tool
-Crankshaft Seal Replacer
-Front Cover Seal Remover
-Crankshaft Seal Installer
-Crankshaft Damper Replacer
-Crankshaft Vibration Damper Remover
-Crankshaft Vibration Damper Installer
-Valve Stem Oil Seal Installer
-Valve Spring Compressor
-Valve Spring Compressor Spacer

No wonder they get so damn much money on this job. WTF!!!
