THE H.P FREAK'S "SUPER FREAK" 5.4 BUILD UP!! (pics)
HI!... Well it's still running. lol! She now has 750KMS on her. I've done a bit of racing the last few days. Lost to a LIGHTNING due to tire spin off the line. He has some small mods and got me by 3/4 truck length. Beat a modded VW 1.8 TURBO, a HONDA CIVIC with a turbo the size of my head and a severely modded 5.0 MUSTANG with some ROUSH engine in it. He wasn't happy to say the least. Still waiting for the GMS COPS to come in and then back on the dyno to do some data logging. Going to order a new set of 305/45/R-18 NITTO 555R's tomorrow. The ones I have now are bald as hell. Once the dyno tuning is done, the nitrous will be going back on.

HI!... I currently have a NX wet kit good for 150 shot. I'll probably run the 50-75H.P shot untill I get MIKE TROYER to tune me for the 150H.P shot on his dyno in VIRGINIA. I also ordered new NITTO's today. They should be here in a few days.

Neal, when you decide to make that trip to Virginia don't forget the laptop w/wifi - you never know when you might need a hand, you have connections on here...
What did you do with your stock rims - Selling Em ?
Great Thread, The best!!
HI!... Well I'm keeping all my rims. I currently have 9 - 17" SAWBLADE, 2 - 17" steel, 4 - 16" steel, and 6 - 18" Lightning rims. lol!
Well I got my new NITTO 555-R drag radials mounted on two of the new Lightning rims today. I also did a rearend service. Oil was a bit dirty but no metal or shavings. Cleaned the internals with couple cans of brake clean. Spider gears, ring/pinion and clutches all looked to be in excellent condition. Added 6 oz. of FORD friction modifier and 3 bottles of 75W140 ROYAL PURPLE synthetic fluid.
The GMS coil packs never showed up today. What else is new, even though we called yesturday and they told us they would be here today FOR SURE!!! Now their telling us MAY 24TH....... mabey. So I used that money and ordered some NITTO 555's 295/45/R-18's for the front. If the weather clears up, it's been raining here for two days straight, I'm going to try to work on the rear suspension a bit. I need to get the pinion angle set up right due to the rear sits high now when I removed the slapper style traction bars and mounted the METCO's.

HI!... Well I got my rear dropped another 1" so now the truck sits level. I ended up taking 9 inches out of both ends of the middle leaf spring to aquire the desired drop and to soften up the rear suspension to get it to squat on holeshots. Ended up having to weld in custom fabricated shock tower extensions in the rear to keep the lowering shocks from bottoming out. Worked out really well. I was told my nitto 555's should be here tomorrow night so I'll be able to get all 18" X 9.5" rims mounted. Then it's time to work on the front suspension. I'll be ordering all new MOOG upper/lower ball joints, inner/outer tie rod ends and pitman arm. All are still original from the day the truck was built. There still in excellent condition but I figure it's time to change them out for some good quality geaseable ones. I'm also going with some PROTHANE POLYURETHANE BUSHINGS and will modify the upper/lower control arms to be greaseable with grease zerks. Then I can lower the front end another inch and get a good alignment done.

After I bought Moog it was brought to my attention that alot of people have had issues with them. My suggestion is go back with Ford parts unless you like changing them out often. The moogs are lifetime warranteed but they are still a PITA!

HI!... Well I've been using MOOG suspension and steering components for over 20 years with no problems at all. I find that they are 5 times tougher than the ***** parts FORD uses and at least have gease fitting on them. After 6 years I replace the stock idler arm with a MOOG one. The MOOG one was about 15% larger in size and fit better than the OEM one and was cheaper price. When I used to be a mechanic, MOOG was the only steering, suspension parts we used to use. Never had a problem with them. I'll stick with MOOG.
