I agree with what you wrote. FYI
The shop here in Windsor that ordered the parts is new. It is owned by two individuals who have 9 second cars. It is a do it yourself garage. They supply space and tools for you to work on your vehicle. From talking to them they opened up to have a place to work on their cars and to provide a service that Windsor was missing. They originally did not intend to sell parts but it became evident that the way to increase business was to have a parts counter to service the customer who needed part to complete his repair. So they set about setting up accounts at different suppliers to accommodate the customer. The prices were very competitive as they both work in the US and can pick up parts on the way home. They have two employees who work during the day and they fill in at night and weekends. Ths place is open from 7:A.M. to 10:00 P.M. week days and till 11:00 P.M. weekends. They have not been open for a year and so they face a steep learning curve. I know both the employees and the owners. The owners have the customer's interest at heart. I blame the lack of an organized system for handling "special" orders. Napa or Autozone type of parts are a phone call away and they are delivered right to the shop. That is kind of neat that you can brake a part on your truck and walk over to the parts counter and order it and have it handed to you within ½ hour. Try that at home
I digress. The problem with this order was the employee at the local shop not properly communicate the situation to the owner. I believe that he wrongfully expected one of the owners to drive out on a Saturday to pick up a part in the US. Had they been made aware of the situation they would have most likely contacted the person who received the two left side gaskets and arranged with him to exchange a left for a right. And as you suggest the employee's $8.50/hour mentality did not include any common sense. I know the kid and he would never work for me.

HI!... I think you guys have misunderstood the situation, so let me clarify it again. The shop I ordered the COMETIC head gaskets from, gets their parts from a large warehouse in DETROIT somewhere. This is how 95% of the performance shops work around here. The warehouse originally told us 1 - 1.5 weeks to get the gaskets to me. 2 weeks passed and no gaskets. At this time, my shortblock is done and i'm ready to assemle but can't due to no head gaskets. After 2.5 weeks I call the shop I ordered from and they now tell me the warehouse says they can't get any head gaskets from COMETIC for another 2-3 weeks!!! This is where I 1ST start to get pissed off due to I was guaranteed 1-1.5 weeks. So then 3.5 weeks goes by and I get a call on the THURSDAY before EASTER that the gaskets are here and I can come pick them up. I figure this is great because I have a long weekend due to EASTER and can take my time and get the engine back together and back in the truck running by SUNDAY. Well I pick up the gaskets and bring them home and start assembling the heads when I realize that I got sent two RIGHT HAND side head gaskets. Now I'm pissed! Go back to the shop that afternoon and complain. Shop's parts guy calls the warehouse and I'm informed that someone in the warehouse mixed up the head gaskets and sent me two rights and some other guy in DETROIT got the two lefts. Well the shop's parts guy relayed how pissed I was and I was told that the warehouse couldn't get me another left side head gasket till MONDAY. I said that won't due I need it SATURDAY!!! The warehouse called back to the shop and said they found another left side gasket from another warehouse and it was being shipped overnight to that warehouse where one of the owners of the shop I ordered from was going to go pick it up SAT morning before noon. Well after JMC and had to deal wil the broken bolt/tap in the crank snout the night before, we picked it up finished at 9A.M SAT morning. Now I'm all set to go but need the dam left side head gasket. 11:30A.M rolls around and I head out to the shop I ordered from to pick up my head gasket. I get there and there is no gasket. The owner tells me that the guy is not going to drop off the left head gasket untill 1:30P.M and that the warehouse will call the shop when it is there. I'm like the guy? You mean UPS/FEDEX? No, the guy who got the two lefts was supposed to drop off his extra left at the warehouse and do a swap for my extra right. Now I'm really pissed do to this is a totally different story than I was told in the 1ST place. Well I go home and tell the shop owner to call me as soon as he has it. 2P.M, 3P.M, 4P.M rolls by. Now I know the warehouse in DETROIT closes at 4P.M. I call the shop and the owner tells me that the guy with the other left side head gasket never bothered to even show up so I have no left head gasket!!!!!!!!! Now I'm livid!!!!!!!!I've been waiting ALL day for this gasket and it was never going to show up from day 1. The funny thing is, that this idiot in DETROIT was bitching to the warehouse as much as I was to get his right hand side gasket so he could finish assembling his engine. If I new this was the true story in the 1ST place I would of got this guys address in DETROIT and drove over there and exchanged head gaskets in about an hour instead of going through all this bull****. So with this situation, the FOX LAKE screw up, the D.S.S screw up and other various U.S manufacturer screw ups you can see why I'm pissed off at the way some U.S companies treat their customers.

Neal - good luck. I'm sure it will all straighten out within the next 24 hrs. Some times we need to just sit back and reflect on the absurdity of the human condition and laugh. So, go tip a moose or two, have a beer , relax.
Are you saying that the Bush family doesn't have stock in oil companies???!!!
Now let's get back to the original thread.
Can't wait to see some new burnout pics from Neal!!!!

Nobody wants a refinery in their back yard so no new capacity.
In an over-ly simple model, and ignoring any manufacturing costs, if the cost of crude oil has doubled in the last two years, the cost of the product should double. We were at a buck and a half, and now we're at $3. However, the more you produce, the more efficient that production becomes, so the manufacturing costs actually go DOWN.... How is it that gas prices have gone up? How the hell can gas prices at the pump spike up because of the 'possibility' of an attack somewhere halfway around the world??? That's like raising the price of milk because a cow farted in Boise, so it *might* affect the regional supply.
Ridiculous.....
At least we got the rest of Neal's gasket story.... sounds liek Neal needs a new gasket after this one too! LOL

On a side note I just purchased a brand new 06 f-150 XLT, awesome truck. Traded in my 03 Mustang GT. I miss her but not the tranny problems... Damn Tremec
Bull-puckey. Refineries are and have been expanding capacity.
Even if none of those 27% were back online yet, there was no interruption in supply, and no shortage of capacity in the remaining refineries.

Sorry Neal for continuing on the fuel prices topic, but does anyone remember that exxon-mobile made over 60 billion dollars IN PROFIT last year , & that they WERE being investigated. I remember watchin the news one morning before work & there was a story about exxon being investigated because of their huge amount of money made last year, when i got home after work & watched the 6 o'clock news the whole story had just disappeared, i even looked for it on the net, nothing. Somebody made a nice wad of cash to hide the investigation, *cough* Bush *cough*
