HI!... Actually I've had two set's of MAGNAFLOW high flow cats fail. I've also had one set of stock cats fail. The stock cats are not high flow and flow like crap, very high restriction. If you ever get a chance to tear a stock cat apart you'll see why. I'm now running a off brand from a local performance shop. Been on two years now with no problems. A lot smaller than the Magnaflows too.Originally Posted by Faster150
stainless magnaflow cats are only lik 70 bucks each. they dont last to long through... i think Neal had one set fail on em. which is why im sticking with stock cats they flow just as good...

HI!... Well when I had it on the dyno un-tuned and with a crappy A/F of 14.1, it made power from my stall 3000 rpm all the way to 5700RPM. We shut it down there for sake of keeping my engine alive. I figure after it's tuned in right that it will most likely make peak power around 6000-62000RPM. You also have to remember that this is a LOW compression engine of 8.0-1 and has turbo ground cams in it in N/A MODE.Originally Posted by baticus

HI!... Well just to give a update.
Apparently someone up there doesn't like me. lol! Well the local place that I ordered the COMETIC head gaskets came through for me today. Their parts guy called the warehouse in DETROIT and chewed somebody there out BIG TIME!!!! Apparently I got two right hand side gaskets and someone else got two left hand gaskets. IDIOTS!!!! So they got me another L/H side shipped down for tomorrow pick-up. The owner of the local performance shop is driving over in the morning to pick it up for me.
Now the bad news. Since I have the R/H side head gasket, I decided to get a head start (PUN), and mount the R/H side head tonight. Well you have to have #1 cylinder at TDC then turn the crank keyway back to 11 0'clock before mounting the head. My keyway was way off so I have to spin the crank to line it up where it should be. I got the lower crank pully mounting bolt/washer and the end of a combination wrench to take up the slack in the bolt since I wasn't mounting the crank pulley. Started to thread in the crank bolt and it only went in 2 turns and won't go anymore. So I take the bolt back out and look inside the crank bolt hole with a light. There seemed to be a large piece of heli-coil broken off and turned sideways in the threaded bore. I fished it out with a small screwdriver but some of the threads were messed up. So I decided to chase them with a tap. Got the right tap and started to re-tap the hole. Everything went fine. Went right in with not a ton of resistance. Then I went to back out the tap and it made two easy turns and stopped. I tried for almost an hour , working the tap back and forth trying to get it free. Finally I pushed a bit too hard and the dam cheap tap broke off 1" deep inside the crank snout. So I called a local guy who just happens to be called the DRILL DOCTOR or something like that. He's famous in this area for get broken bolts and such out without causing any further damage. Just happens he lives about 4 blocks down the street from me. So JMC was nice enough to come pick up my engine and we dropped it off at his house tonight. He said it would be ready to pick up by 9:00A.M tomorrow morning. He's going to install a new heli-coil but the right way this time. If your wondering why there was a heli-coil in it the 1ST time it was due to the donor 5.4 I bought already had a broken bolt in the crank to begin with. It was a hardened bolt and the machine shop drilled it out and installed a heli-coil but not correctly.
So if NOTHING else goes wrong, JMC and I should have this thing running by 8:00P.M tomorrow night. Keep your fingers crossed!

so you are running a stock crank? i thought u had a kellog crank or something. but man that sux about the head gaskets and the helicoil in the crank.... id be pretty pissed off..

HI!... Nope I'm running the factory forged steel crank. It's good for about 900H.P (flywheel) the way it comes from the factory. I had it blueprinted, cryo-treated, knife edged on the leading and trailing edges and double keywayed. It's supposed to be good for about 1400H.P (flywheel). Originally Posted by Faster150

HI!... Well phucked again by another stupid YANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't give a rats a$$ if this affends anyone. The stupid idiot that was supposed to drop off my left hand head gasket back at the warehouse this morning by 11:00 A.M never bothered to show up!!!!!! The guy who got the two lefts has been bitching since THURSDAY that he couldn't finish his engine due to the warehouses shipping screw up that gave me the two rights. He was supposed to drop off the other left and my guy was going to drop off my other right and make a swap. Well after waiting all DAM day and now the warehouse is closed this stupid idiot never even bothered to call or show up. JMC and I picked up my engine from the BOLT DOCTOR this morning. He started working on it at 1:30A.M last night and got it all fixed by 7:00A.M this morning. Cost was $300(CAN) but the man did a GREAT job. Got the P/S head on and TQ'ed down and now I'm screwed till MONDAY. I'd luv to to now where this M/F lives over in DETROIT because he has just cost me over $200(CAN) this weekend and I'm going to beat his A$$ if I ever meet him.

Hee-hee.... It's a conspiracy... we yanks secretly despise all you moose-tipping canuks. If we yanks couldn't do the job right, why do you keep using us to source your parts?? I don't see you beating down the doors of any Canadian companies for these parts.... Why is that?? Oh, that's right... Maybe the Canuks are out moose-tipping for the weekend?
Juss playin', Neal......
We yanks have been making and supplying auto parts for over a hundred years... you'd think we could have figured it out already!
If you've got that canuk-screwin' yank's name, I'd be happy to see what I could dig up on him for ya'.

had any one been smart enough to get a name and a cell phone number for the guy delivering, you would have the gaskets or at least know what is going on.
as a businerss owner the buck stops with me, sure i can blame things on everyone but ulitmately it is up to me. if it is fed ex or ups i get tracking numbers, if it is a local corrior i get names and cell phone numbers.
it also helps to communicate thru email this way you have in writing what is to be expected. this is why i make 6 figures and my delivery guy makes $8.50 an hour
personally i put blame on the shop owner you did business with, he should know better than to put trust in a delivery driver. he should have a name phone number, cell number and his conversation on friday should have been polite but firm as to say, enough is enough i need this part guaranteed tomorrow. the shop owner you delt with should have demanded that the warehouse put in a call tag to you and to the the other guy, set you up for a next day saturday delivery and provided you with fed ex numbers...problem solved. or next day aired a set in from someone else and had them drop shipped directly to you.
i dont blame you for being mad, but you are made at a country, and at a $8.50 an hour delivery driver. be mad at the cheap a$$ warehouse and your shop owner for not paying the shipping to make it right.
