Picture...

Here is a picture of how I anchored it... After re-reading your post I forgot to reply to how that is done... If you do it right, it should be plenty tight against the dash. If the legs on the front aren't extended enough, the lower part of the sub will fit tight but not the upper. You may need to push on it to kind of coerce it into a snug fit.. It will go though... Trust me..

D Lewis,

Just my $.02 but what I did was to take the brackets that are attached to the front off completely. Then replace them with the longer "L" brackets that came for the back of the sub that were suppossed to attach it to the carpet. Gives the sub a perfect elevation and a snug fit against the dash. And you don't have to cut the carpet, just trim the back of the box.

Thanks reel.

I'll double check to make sure I have the legs all the way up.

Going to try and get the zip ties a little tighter also. Reel - did you have to take off the heater cover to get to the anchor point for the zip ties? If so how did you get that little black plastic rivet out on the sides of it. I tried the ol' YANK IT !? No luck yet.

RE:

Yes, you will have to remove the heater cover. It is very easy, two pressure clips on one side and one on the other (drivers?). Just pop it off and it will become very clear how it should go... As for getting them to release, just pull.. They will let loose... I guarantee it and if you break one, there like .30 cents at the local A-Zone...

Good luck,
Chris

I went a step further and actually re-mounted the legs/brackets for legs in a different spot, lower to the bottom thus, giving a little more 'up' so that it would fit flush on the dash.

Also, take note of what Reel said in his install directions. Grinding down the back 'nub' off of the bottom with a dremel or something like that is what makes all the difference in the world.

Good luck and again, thanks to REEL for some great install directions.

Question couple questions...

1. My factory system is a cassette player in the dash and a 6 disc-changer in the jack compartment behind the passenger rear seat...Do I have the premium sound system? If so, does it have a separate amplifier and where is it located?

2. Is there a different "T" wiring harness for this system versus a standard system?

3. If so, does it plug in at the radio or the amp?

4. Is the harness for the premium system using line level (which I assume is the same signal carried by RCA cables, please correct me if I'm wrong) or speaker level signals?

5. Can the enclosure be used to house a better 8" sub if I wanted to upgrade the subwoofer and power it with a larger amp?

Great advice and tech instructions! I'm convinced. I just ordered mine this morning for $85 including shipping!
Got the cable on closeout from Crutchfield for 8.95.
Come on UPS!

Wink

If anyone else looking for a Clarion "camoflauge" powered sub, they can be found on ebay for $100 at http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ARECO%3AUS%3A3

Thank you Reelworks for your posting. I followed your directions and the install went smooth. This sub sounds really good for the size and the color matched my grey very well. Thanks again!
