WOW!

Holy threadbusters Batman!

I was messing around and out of curiousity look at the history and such of the forum and then sorted by most reads and then most views and this post was second in both replies (short by only 10) and views! Now, that's a lot of replies and views! I would have never figured on that happening!

Guess this thread has really helped out a lot of folks...

edit - just noticed when I posted that it pushed over 11 pages too!

Nope. Ya can't fold the seat down all the way, but you can fold it 1/4 to 1/2 way down, allowing access to the back of the seat and small rear storage compartment...

But it does sound ALOT stronger than the Clarion sub. By the way, I purchased the unit because the amp in my Clarion blew out, and you can NOT get a replacement for it. You have to rig up an external amp and connector to drive it once the original amp dies. Anyway, I contacted the company that made the amp for Clarion, and they advised me to get the MTX box because they also made that internal amp and say it is a much better amp. From the sounds of it, they were right. I'm sure the 10" woofer in it helps too.

Having both is REALLY nice cause ya get some bump from all directions.

Question fer ya...

So did you replace the amp in the Clarion or what? Are you running it off the HU or AMP? I'm curious in case that ever happens to me or anyone else here...

Well, to make a long story even longer, I first used an external 100watt amp I "jerry rigged" in to fit the connector. But I then got replacement parts for the blown ones on the amp(a transister and 4 mosfets) and repaired the original amp. The amp in there is just a small pc board (looks like a 56k modem board) with a few parts on it.

I would not suggest trying what I did, I'm pretty good with electronics/soldering and my buddy helped who is a club sound engineer and does that sort of thing all day long. The board is small and the parts are soldered pretty close and deep, so you end up burning traces when trying to re-solder the parts on...

If mine blew again, I'd just replace the amp with a small external one. You can get a 100 watt single channel amp for $50-$75.

But I'll tell ya, I'm bumpin now!!!

If anybody was looking for one, since they stopped making them, i am putting my clarion camo sub in the classifieds soon. Finally got enough $$ to do a full out system in my truck and put 2 10's under the rear seat. Don't need the clarion sub anymore and i also want to do an expy console. Its only about a year old, its still like brand new. Make me an offer if anybody wants it before i throw it up in the classifieds

email me at joshv_85@yahoo.com

Chris - go back a few pages in this thread - there are a few of us that painted the sub to match the med parchment tan color in our King Ranches.....you might want to steer your buddy to www.paintscratch.com for the paint - make sure he/she gets the flex additive put in as well since he/she is painting plastic (it's free).

Not sure as of yet, just got home from a small road trip and noticed i had no thump....Got to checkin and realized muh camo wasn't doin anything so the amp thing might have happened to me. Won't know till the morning when i have a chance to tear into it. My wife had the truck for a few days so hard tellin when it went down or what caused it. LOL She said it was thumpin Thursday on her way to work but couldn't take it Friday morning, so she didn't turn it on..LOL I"ll let ya know how it goes, keep your fingers crossed for me that its just a grnd wire or something loose.

Whew, I'm feeling alot better now. The only thing wrong must have been the grounding position i had chosen on the initial install. After removing HU and messing with ground connect the sub once again THUMPS! I went ahead and did the complete ground wire as per previous instructions in anticipation that it will help with the FM signal loss. I didn't have any RFI to put on so I'm goin to rely on the reroute of the wire harness and ground connect.

I was asking 80 plus 10 shipping in the classified and must have gotten a dozen emails about it so far. Probably could get more.

I decided to keep it though, i'm gonna rig it up in my 85 F150, and get some new cheap door speakers and a cheap single disc HU so i can have some tunes for the long drives down the shore when i work on the weekends
