Aight, i have some questions for you guys. I have a 2000 Harley F150. I've been thinking about getting a system, but can't afford much.

What i wanted to know, was, will this fit my truck? Would i need to trim the sub like some to fit cuz i WON"T cut the cupholder

Its got the 6 disc in the console. Is it a basically simple plug in, ziptie down, and go?

I'm guessing they don't come in black? I'd probably have to paint it then, but thats not too big a deal

Anybody have a link to where i can get one?

Thanks for any help, i'm sure i'll have more questions later on.

o yeah, once installed, is that opening like a little tray? or can't anything be put in there? Thanks again

Yup, it'll fit. Nothing to cut but, you will need to trim down the 'feet' of the sub in the back nearest the dash. Read REELWORK's directions. They're very very good. I trimmed mine down in the back and didn't touch the cupholder.

Yup, it's just that simple. The 'plug-in' portion of your question will either involve splicing the factory wires or buying a 'T-Harness' so that it's all just plug and play.

I'm guessing they don't come in black?

Nope, they don't come in black but, you could get the grey one and, as you said, paint it. Just be sure to prime it and put a few coats of paint on it. I ordered the tan one and, as you may have read, most weren't very satisfied with the color match thus, a lot of us have painted ours using paint from paintscratch.com with flex additive to match the medium parchment interior.

Anybody have a link to where i can get one?

Link to Crutchfield/Clarion Custom Sub-Woofer

Also, if you are planning on spending more than $200 and this is your first order from Crutchfield, I can get you a code that will save you $20 and will credit my account $20 thus, it's a win/win situation for both of us. Let me know if you want that code and I'll gladly email it over to you.

...is that opening like a little tray? or can't anything be put in there?

Yes, you can put stuff there. Personally, I typically keep my cell phone and Pioneer Head-Unit remote control in that little bin. Very very handy.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the quick help RP. Anyway, i have a chance to buy a clarion from a fellow HD (well ex-hd ) owner from this site for 75 dollars, and its already painted black to match. I think i'm gonna go for it. Even if it lasts me a year, i'll have gotten my money out of it. Does this sound like a good deal? Thanks for all the help

Sounds like a good deal to me. Just keep in mind that this isn't going to make your truck 'bump'. It will add a nice bass tone that very few of the Ford factory systems have.

Me, I just wanted something to 'accent the bass'. This is exactly what I needed.

o yeah, exactly what wires do i need? He said it comes with all of them, but just so i know what i'm messing with and looking for, how many harnesses should i get? thanks

RockPick...

Hey Buddy...

Got another question fer ya... Do you remember what wires you used to do the install to the 7400? I know that I will need to use RCA's but what else did you hook up? Just the power, ground and shut-off right....

Thanks,
Chris (ReelWork)

Reel,

I got a harness for the F150. Basically just spliced wires together. Very simple. You'll need more than power and ground. You still have to get the speaker signal to the speakers thus, that's where the harness made life easy.

Yes, the RCAs are the way to go on the Sub. Much easier than using that harness that came with the sub.

Mine is finally installed. Looks and sounds great.
Might paint it sometime in the future, but for now I'm satisfied.
Now I see some people are having reception problems.
I haven't noticed anything yet.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Thumbs up TNBigAl

Hey there!

Glad to see your install went smoothly and that you are satisfied with it. Quite impressive for a little guy, huh?

I did a little research on the static thing and let me just say this. It would seem that the instances where static is an issue are few and far between with most of those being from folks that are running aftermarket HU's. Granted, I have only been able to find about 5 in total but I think like 3 or 4 out of those were aftermarket HU's and I also found a fix for it. It seems that just placing one of those in line noise reducer (magnetic looking sleeve that clamps around the wire) seem to be method of choice. This was the fix that Clarion even recommended.

Just what I have noticed and found..

Best Wishes,
Chris (ReelWork)

Static problems? I didn't realize that was what was happening.... I noticed that I had some static on a local station that I typically recieve with NO problems the other day...

So, can someone point me to this 'inline noise reducer' thing-a-ma-bob?

Thanks.

Post RP - Here's the link...

Nothing too fancy really, just those magnetic thingies... (that's the technical term)

Fix for static on HU from Clarion Sub

Hope this helps...

This picture shows the difference in the color it came and the color I painted it, and the following one show how it matches my interior after I painted it. As you can see, it matches the console but not the dash. Oh well, it is better than what it came as.

Mine came out exactly the same. I have a 01 SCREW and the Medium parchment paint was a little light.

Just an FYI... the camo sub does not fit very well in my 01 SCREW. I shaved 1/2 inch or so off the bottom lip and then painted.

I am still working on finding a way to make it fit tightly up against the dash and under the cupholder. Zip ties have not worked out to well so far and I'm not wild about the L brackets and cutting the carpet.

Trying to find some kind of Carpet Hook that I can attach to the evevation legs to anchor it.

It does sound nice however.

Lightbulb Tight fit...

Dlewis, I had many questions come my away about this very problem (which I had also) and what you have to do, if you haven't already, is raise the legs on the front as high as they will go. This will snug up the back part against the top portion of the sub where it meets the dash.

I even had a couple folks take the legs and move the mount allowing you to raise the front even more and thus snugging up the rear to the dash...

If you've already done that and you shaved the rear rib portion off, then you'll need to give some more info. Either way, post up a reply...

Later!
