Need wiring help

I need help!

I'm no wiring expert.
I can't figure out how to hook up the sub. Here's what I got:
F150 King Ranch Supercrew w/ 6 disc changer in the console.

I got the HU out and disconnected. I've got the sub, and I've got a long wiring harness that says amp on one end, and source on the other. I suspect the end that says amp goes to the sub, and the end that says source connects to the radio. Got that much figured out.
Question is, I don't have the T harness thats mentioned in the instructions. So without cutting wires, how do I connect the source end to the HU? Ain't no place for it. I see a hole/slot above the factory connections that actually says AMP, but it doesn't have an pins in it. Its just a blank/black slot.

Anyone put one of these in an '02 with the CD changer?
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions on this?

I guess I could just order the "T" harness, but before I do that I want to make sure it will work, as the "T" harness on the website said its for 98 and up, but will it fit the 2002?

Any help would be appreciate.

TNBigAl...

Sounds like you have all that you need in order to be hooked up... Don't worry about the instructions because they weren't really designed with the t-harness in mind.

What it sounds like you need to do is pull the harness from the radio, plug the t-harness in line and then insert the pig-tail plug from the t-harness into the radio. It should fit right up... Then attatch the harness to the sub... After you hook it up, power up the radio and see if you got sound...

Post up after you do, but I think you are done and maybe have yourself in the land of confusion... I frequent that place so much, I bought a road map!

One more thing, you should have gotten two wiring harnesses, the one that comes with the Sub from Clarion and the other that comes from Crutchfield that is the in-line connector specific for your truck.

Look at my pics also, there is a picture that shows the harness connected.. It's not real clear but you can see it...

Reel is right. At the beginning I couldn't figure out how to hook up my sub. Then I looked in the package that came with the sub and it had an extra harness. The problem is that both the Extra harness and the sub both have female connectors. You need to use the second harness to make it work.

I am sorry if I completely confused you.

Reel work,
He does not have the T harness.

You have to either buy the T harness (Yes, it will work). OR, hard wire it in which means you must cut the wires and splice in. I would not recomend that for you since you said your "no wireing export"!!

Good luck!!

Like I said, I don't have the T harness.
I went ahead and ordered it.

Thanks for the info, and I'll let you know how it turns out.

Question TNBigAl...

If you ordered from Crutchfield, you should have one. Rather, they should have asked what year/model etc. to send you the right one for basic plug and play but I'm not suprised if they didn't.... If you haven't already, double check the box, because I thought I didn't get one but I actually did, it was buried in all the angel turds.. At any rate, you said you have one on order so just as well.. Sorry...

Pretty frustrating huh? It'll be cake walk when you get the harness in...

Chris (ReelWork)

I hope you submit a follow-up...

I bought the sub from someone else that had ordered it from Crutchfield and I guess wasn't pleased with it. I guess its possible they got the T harness in the order, and decided to keep it for a future sub install. I got a good deal on the sub, so I ain't complaining about having to spend the $10 to get the harness.

Good Deal Huh...

I just hope your good deal didn't cost more than $150... LOL..

Chris (ReelWork)

In case you didn't know, that's how much they are selling for at C-Field now and they're tossing in the free harness.

I got it for less than that, and even after buying the harness, I'll still be ahead.

Thumbs up Update!!

Hey guys,

I just got to the bottom of this "color issue". You guys aren't as girlish as I thought!!

My buddy just ordered the Clario sub unit for his Screw from Crutch, same interior color as mine, tan. He just go it and guess what? The color DOES NOT match!! LOL!!! Guess what else? YEP, you guesed it!! The color does NOT match mine either, not even close!!! His unit looks more grayish than Tan????

I guess they changed the plastic or color tint .... they were making them with?? Mine is 1 year old, and matches perfectly, as I've said.

PS- After seeing how mine was installed and I showed him you folks' idea of cutting the bottom off, he decided to cut 1/8" off the ashtray.

Anywho!!
