Easy solution, make more moderators! Hasn't been a new one since '05, they're WAY past due for fresh meat

I'm sorry Patman! It's ok, I still like you! I'm tired and just looked at your join date. Didn't know about Stealth though, why is he not labeled as a mod or at least something above normal? Did he give it up? I don't know how becoming a mod even works!

See? My noobishness just shined through as brightly as a 1,000 suns! Self labeled

I don't think adding more Mods would be helping the situation. I think too much moderation led to the decline....They deleted and banned all the good entertainment.

If memory serves, Stealth stepped down voluntarily.

I agree that more of them could be bad, but would lighten the work load. It was 100% sarcasm. You can't have TOO many "all powerful" guys running the show. The current number is good. But some threads definitely needed to be closed. The latest one I can remember was the "Reptar" one. It quickly became an abrasive "conversation," if you could even call it that.

Ahh I never even thought about it until now. Sorta just assumed it was the same guys since day 1/ since they got brought up to Mod status. It makes much more sense that they come and go occasionally. I imagine it can be quite taxing; it's a huge time commitment for something that is entirely an "act of love"

Who started the site? Original creator?

I think it's slowed down a lot too....can wait days for response to threads and such....but the Forum is not dead.

Been an active member on VW/Touareg Forums, Land Rover Forums, BMW Forums, Corvette Forums, various Chevy Truck/Tahoe Forums, Dodge Truck Forums, Toyota Truck Forums, Nissan Forums, and a lot of Ford Forums (F150/Superduty/Raptor), etc. and this one has always been one of my favorites (even when I was off driving other vehicle makes for awhile)...always come back home to this one!

Have we had a thread as active as that one since then? That was a good thread. It was very informative, and entertaining. It's a shame sharing concerns for the legality of using and selling counterfeit parts led to what you call abrasive.

Hmm point taken. Cause if I didn't check in for a few hours, 3 pages were added to it. It did get out of hand and people wouldn't let stuff go, but it was the most active one I can remember for a long time.

i think dacebook has filled a lot of people need to connect with others.

the politic/religion thread was, IMO, created because one guy could not control himself, he has not posted in over a year so one guy has made it change for everyone. I personally think it was his experiment and whne he won, he was done. There are some big topic out there that no one here touches. rather i agree with you or not i love to see others view. every now and then i see something i had not seen or thought of before.

When the site was owned by the firsst guy it was a pg - pg13 site where normal people could have a norman discussion. new owners with the goal of selling advertisement it is now a rated G site. there are thing on prime time network tv, that we can not post here. sorry guys i work in a shop with 20 guys and we all know how guys are, but we have a lot of fun.

last i think the new truck are so much better than truck from 10 years ago. the 5.4 and 4.6 where, to me, lack luster in performance and mpg. the new eco boost, 5.0 and 6.2 have most people happy and not looking for mods, there for not as many are looking for info. i also think that ford is not mod friendly and with such an investment, no one wants to test the warranty.

BD, I agree with everything except your take on the P/R Forum creation. I don't think one person was the sole driving force. I think it was a combination of 5 or 10 individuals that took great fun in arguing with each other and finding new and creative ways to insult each other about politics/religion/ethics while attempting to skirt the edge of forum rules. The MODS met and decided it might be best to corral all the would-be offenders in one spot. Much easier to ride herd on them! (and yes, while certainly not among the ring leaders, I might have been one of them on occasion, just as you were.)

You are pretty much right on. It had gotten to the point that a reasonable discussion was impossible. After a few posts, each thread would become a name calling insult fest, with a high amount of baiting involved. Everyone already knew the position a memeber would take, so it was easy to push buttons. There was a call from above to eliminate political and religeous threads completely, but the mods wanted to try the separate forum as a method to get control of the problem. We were grated the opportunity and I think it has worked pretty well. If people could discuss views without losing control, would never been necessary.

There was a call from above
THAT is the key - this isn't Steve's forum any more. The mod staff takes orders from Internet Brands, Inc. who owns a whole bunch of Internet forums.

Any complaints anyone has with the way this forum is moderated needs to keep that in mind instead of tarring and feathering the mods. The mods are not calling the shots.
