Dave,

How does the Texas CCW pertain to vehicles? That is, can you have it on your person in a vehicle? How does one apply? Where can't you carry, if any?

What is the Texas law for transporting firearms without a CCW permit? "In plain view, loaded or unloaded?"

DUN,
The conceal handgun permits alows them to carry it concealed in legal place, not band by law or the establishment owners...but if its concealed who will know right..but anyway...they can carry it concealed in there car...if stopped by the police the must notify the officer and give them their license(both driving and concealed). Dont let me run you dl and find on my computer without being told by the license holder..
You can carry in your car while traveling in Texas....what constitutes traveling, dont know, it used to be through 5 counties...now it just says traveling..couldnt find anything on unloaded or loaded.....but whats the use of having it if it isnt loaded.......Dave

Dave,

What about the flash to pass?

What about strobes in the marker or head lamps?

What constitutes impersonating an officer?

I have many friends who have the same question.

Some officers take the radar detectors as a challenge, they will usually say something smart like.."Didnt help huh ?" " Better get a better one" or something smart....but Ii really dont write alot of tickets, to me I could care less...but I do get a kick when the speeder ask why his/her detector didnt work.....
No I wouldnt write one of my fellow f150online a ticket.....Dave

Dave,

Please forgive what may appear to be illogical questions on the Texas CCW.

Understand that in "The Peoples Republic of New Jersey" firearms are "bad."

We cannot transport "loaded" and any firearm must be transported unloaded where "It is not readily accessible" from the driver's compartments......not easy with a regular cab pickup driver and CCW are nearly not possible here so we carry LAWS rockets!

From your statements, the Texas driver's license is also coded with a legal CCW? Anyone stopped by a police officer would be foolish not to declare he or she was carrying a weapon legally.

I wish we had the common sense here that Texans have ...............

Dun,
Yes they have separate license's. My buddy next door has taped his to his dl so he wont forget togive it along with the DL.
If I was to run him tcic-ncic it would pop up on my screen saying he was a concealed handgun carrier...and if he was allowed to carry a automatic, revolver or both...I have alway been for the concealed handgun permits although some officers were against it....Just wish more bad guys were shot..but Ii think thats why car jacking have gone down and other crimes against persons have.........Andd I have to agree TEXAS is a great state, although I wasnt born here (Myrtle Beach,SC) I got here as fast as I could..been a TEXAN since 1974...

Dave have you ever given a ticket to the wrong person. Like on a 4 lane road and there is one car or truck going very fast but is in a group of cars or near a group of cars and in that group is a sports car and you pull it over thinking it was the one speeding it happened to me once back when I drove a Mustang GT.

Question

Hi Davensa,

Would you write a ticket to the driver in front of you,if he isn't picking up speed fast enough when the light turnes green.

Well,it happened here in The Netherlands.
Fine was 50 US$

Now,that guy goes to court and wants to know all about this.

What for instance if your engine stalls?
And how much delay is permitted if the light turns green.

Mustang,
No I have never done that, I can tell who is speeding with my 20/20 vision, although it did happen to me in 1985, I was on my wayt o the TDC academy and had my cruise on 55mph and was issued a ticket for 75...so it does happen, just not by me....DAVE

Europe,
Nope we dont have a minimum acceleration minimum here in Texas, although it is against the law to impeed traffic..I would have to laugh at that one, my dad would be coming hom with tickets all the time........

To answer your question(s) properly would take forever due to the many different brands of radar units and different applications. Any type of speed measureing device used in the stationary mode is very reliable, the only exception to this is the angular cosine effect, where the radar is at an angle to the target (you speeding) but this will read your speed as slower than you are actually going, this benifits you.
Also along the lines of stationary radar almost all handheld units,(decateur, kustom)
are not target/lane selective, but like DAVENSA stated before we as the certified user of the unit must visually estimate the targets speed and be able to testify as fact that your vehicle was the target that the unit was picking up. This is where you have to believe that my job is not worth perjuring myself for a stinking ticket, that I do not get $.01 of the revenue. The only type of hand held speed detection device made that is lane and target selective is laser, and you'll be hard pressed to beat it in court, really!
As for the moving radar question Ill try my best because it is so complicated I try not to sign out these units for my car. The moving radar can be target and lane selective, but not as fool proof as laser. They sometimes use front and rear facing antennas. The officer also needs to visually check their speedometer that was hopefully calibrated to determine their speed at the same time your speed is being measured. They all are approved in the state of Florida and all hold up very well in court, so there is really no way of determining which is more effective.
I tried to answer the question as best as I could, but if you give me a specific scenario I may be able to answer it better that way.
The bottom line is, if the officer shows up to court with his radar log book and all the certifcates ere up to date, you are better off changeing you plea to "NO CONTEST"

Kenster: Don't tell me you've never speeded. 55 in a 35 and thats 2 tickets, the speeding and a wreckless ticket. Throw in perhaps loud exhaust and thats 3 tickets. Any cop can find a way to give you 3 tickets. That hardly justifies them stealing a $30k automobile. You think people are just gonna go "bad me" and hand over the keys? This insane law is gonna be the cause of a lot of problems. If you haven't noticed, none of these kind law enforcement gentleman have come to this laws defense. That tells me enough. This also speaks highly of their integrity.

People who give away their freedoms for security have neither.

Davensa: This seems to be an extension of the drug forfeiture laws. Too many criminal acts on the part of law enforcement behind those laws. The incentive was to confiscate, confiscate, confiscate. There should be zero. Yes, you guys do have to live up to a higher standard, because who protects us from you (of course not you personally) when you cross the line?

Thunder,
You have totally lost me....dont know if you are saying cops are the best criminals or we live to confiscate...
The drug forfeiture laws were made for law enforcement to confiscate anything, owned or used by drug dealers-manufactures or any other criminal who commits felony offenses. But in order to confiscate anything it must go to court..I have only seized one thing myself, a 66 Ford Mustang..The actor was passing stolen and forged checks...It went to court and the actor was allowed to buy it back for 1500.00. The whole idea of the seizure law was to make the bad guys pay for law enforcement tools, overtime or anything else the Law Enforcement Agency needs to combat them..So as long as you are a law abiding citizen you dont have to worry about anything. Unless you of course run from the police and kill someone. Then how much will that 30,000 Truck be worth ? I dont live in New York so I dont know there laws so give me a break. I do not do drugs, I do not commit felony acts, but I do speed everyonce in awhile. It will be very hard to confiscate a vehicle for a traffic ticket even 3...especially if the vehicle is still owned by the bank or other financial company...I will go the extra step for my f150 buddies, Ii will contact NYPD and find out if there is anytruth to this rummor..Dave
