Hey, anybody know anything about laws involving fog lights? I wired my fog lights so I can have them on with just the running lights (no headlights) but I heard that in Ohio, it is illegal to have the fogs on without headlights. I was looking through the Ohio revised code (jeez, my head hurts) and I couldn't find anything. Anybody know about this in ANY states? Also, does anyone know exactly what a fog light would be referred to as in legal-ise? cause I can't find them listed as fog lights at all... thanks in advance for any advice.

First I will tell you a secret, If you think it should be in a certain place it wont be there..Remember lawyers write most of these laws as legislatures.....look up auxillary driving lights....Tx code is trc. 547.330
Texas only allows 2 auxillary lights to be used with driving lights

You really arent suppose to drive with only "PARKING LIGHTS ON" as they are meant to be used when parked along the side of the road in unlit areas.....but look up your state codes........Dave

Please look at sections 4513.12 4513.16 and 4513.17 of the Ohio Revised Code. This might help in answering your question.

Thanks Davensa, the only time I usually do this is when it is maybe a little dark out, or approaching the time when I might need headlights.. I always turn my headlights on when it is required, but I like to just have the fogs on when I don't have to have them on, mostly because it looks cool

OhioCrew,I don't see anything about having any "auxilary" lights on without the headlights. That is why I was confused thanks though...

Sorry Dave, I had you pegged for an old fart like myself. SOOO you were a dependant then (70-71). Even if you didnt remember the RC-135m's, I bet you remember the SR-71's taking off and landings From Kadena -- that is unless you were "really' a pup!!

No courteous drivers in CA? Well, you should visit us here in Puerto Rico to see the new meaning of courtesy. I would (guess) say that maybe and if we are lucky we have 20% of the total drivers population being courteous when driving. The rest drives like crazy because they think they deserve everything, they have to be first and they are better or more important than anyone else.
