Texas Transportation Code...545.066

If the bus is on a seperate roadway divided.( bus is Northbound and you are southbound) ..the answer is no you dont have to stop...by divided I mean by a greassy median, concrete, or what ever...as long as they are divided.....black tops dont touch..

couldnt find the u-turn infor....but I was always told no u-turn is legal at intersections with stop n go lights...........will continue to locate the answer..........

3) Fines double only if their are actual workers in that zone............no ticket if no workers

4)as far as carrying shot guns or rifles loaded, just carrying them in a unthreatening manner is ok..but all you need is one person to say you aimed it at them...there goes deadly conduct.class A misdemeanor.not worth it....unload it put it in your trunk..or back seat..

the above answers are true to the best of my knowledge...this book is very thick and written by lawyers..so I may be wrong..

most libraries have penal codes from each state. Couldnt find anything on u-turns but that doesnt mean they are legal..........DAVE

Question

Need an opinion: It seems in New York they have/will have a law that allows for the confiscation of the vehicle if 3 or more citations are issued on a stop. Nobody is gonna take my $30k vehicle over some dumba$$ traffic violation if I can help it. With that in mind, don't you feel there will be more high speed chases because of this?

This is for all of you.

Would you give another cop a ticket for speeding in the following situations. (Be totally honest)

On duty in police car (not on a call)?

Off duty in police car ?

Thumbs down

Regarding CA question...
Courteous drivers keep right and pass left.
California drivers drive anywhere they find pavement! Shoulders, sidewalks, etc.
They usually pass on the right, only passing on the left when the shoulder is blocked!
There are few courteous drivers in CA.
When driving in England, if you pass on the wrong side (left, over there) or fail to move out of the fast lane (right, over there) when someone flashes their lights, you will get a ticket I sure wish we had similar laws in this country
I was well into triple digits on the M4 when I went through a radar trap. Since I, and others were all in the FAST lane, they didn't even attempt to stop us
(I also moved left when the Jaguar behind me flashed his lights! Had to slow to 97MPH to avoid running over the traffic in that lane before I could get back to the fast lane )

To all the honest, honorable, law enforcement personnel out there, let me say I really appreciate what you do to protect all of us. Thank you for risking your life everyday to protect me and my family.

To the few dishonest, dishonorable officers out there, I say, get another job - you are doing more harm than good.

In 21 years of driving and 37 years as a law abiding, upstanding citizens, I have had exactly 2 very negative experiences with a couple of real jerks who wore a uniform.

My question is: What recourse does Joe Average have against an out of control jerk who just happens to be a police officer?

Cool

Tamster, I understand that you have to be prepared for someone infront of you making a sudden stop. As for the pics there on SS97 web page at the moment you can se a figure in the middle of the truck on his somewhat fly bye. I hope it was you??? LOL

Dave thanks for the update. Looks like this is a good idea. Everyone always has these type of questions.

Question

Here's a question thats been buggin me for some time... its about radar.

I find that K and Ka (instant-on) are the ones used most frequently these days. Please tell me in which of the following circumstances, could police radar effectively clock a car:

1) Police car stationary, K-band, target car coming up from behind (same direction)
2) Police car stationary, K-band, target car coming opposite direction
3) Police car stationary, Ka instant, target car coming up from behind (same direction)
4) Police car stationary, Ka instant, target car coming opposite direction

5) Police car moving, K-band, target car coming up from behind (same direction)
6) Police car moving, K-band, target car coming opposite direction
7) Police car moving, Ka instant, target car coming up from behind (same direction)
8) Police car moving, Ka instant, target car coming opposite direction

Are there Federal laws regarding placement of children in vehicles or are they just guidelines? The following are copied from NJ's web site www.state.nj.us ,I think they are a joke especially the fines:

It's the Law!

Every state now requires young children to be properly protected while riding in the car. New Jersey's law reads as follows:

Children under five years of age must be in a car seat if they are riding in the front seat and must be secured by a safety belt if riding in the rear seat.

Children under 18 months of age must be in a federally-approved car seat when riding anywhere in the car.

If the number of children under 5 years old exceeds the number of safety belts, children who are not restrained must ride in the rear seat.

Failure to comply with the child passenger safety law is a $10 to $25 fine plus court costs.

How do other states' laws compare?

good point mtknee.
i recently went to fla. with my son. when he went for a ride with grandma she told him he had to sit in the back seat because it is fla. law.
he is 8 yrs old. he immediately asked me how he was supposed to get home when we don't have a back seat in the truck.
i told him not to worry, but is it really a law down there.
