I know what your going through, well actually my 17 year old son does. He got a DUI in his Ranger a few months back (he was actually 16), 1 year license supension, 40 hours community service, alcohol class and probation for 6 months.
I sold his truck they we bought him to pay all the fines etc.
But, all in all the sun will come up tomorrow so just do the time and this will pass....well this and high insurance costs.

I mean hell, TONIGHT, I was at a party in my buddies back yard, had the keg sittin on my tailgate. 15 minutes after we tapped it, 3 flashlights come a walkin towards us. There was about 30 of us there, nobody got a citation. One guy ran and left his truck sittin there, it got towed. And since the keg was sittin in my truck I had to pump all the beer out onto the grass. Took me about 30 minutes, and it was the worst 30 minutes of my life. God it was hard to watch all that good beer go to waste.

They were all nice guys though. One of em was standin by me while I was pumpin the keg, and I said "There's gonna be some nice grass growin here." He laughed and said, "Yea, drunk grass."
Hence the reason for stiffer punishments...you obviously haven't learned a dam thing!

I don't drive when I have been drinkin, and I try my best not to let my friends either. There is nothing wrong with sittin out in a field with a couple people and drinkin some beer. We went out there, not to try to avoid being caught, but so we wouldn't be bothering anybody.

If the cops that walked back there really wanted to teach us a lesson, they should have waited by the gate and picked people up for DUIs that were leaving. If were out there on private property not bothering anyone then leave us alone, we're only doing the same thing all them probably did when they were younger.

So, it seems to me from reading here, that a kid getting caught drinking alcohol by the police is the only way it seems for them to learn that underage drinking is illegal. That's an expensive course. As already stated, some haven't learned the lesson yet.

Come on, guys.

It's no different than it was back when you were in high school. You might not have drank but you know alot of other kids did. The only difference now is the punishments for underage drinking are rediculously harsh, whereas yall probably didn't get in any trouble at all if you got caught.

It was just as low when I was a kid, 18. Police busted our parties too. It really is a hard life lesson, though I didn't have to learn it, I already knew what problems would come of it. It's all a crapshoot, and I don't gamble.

for one, shouldnt this be in general discussion, there were no posts relevant to an 04-Present f-150

for two, why is there an argument over underage drinking, it is illegal, everyone does it, some will get through the cracks, some will get caught, its life

True, but it's not fair for Pat here to have his license suspended for a whole year cause he got picked up for underage drinking once, when I got caught 4 times in one week and got nothin more than some community service.

You have to understand his frustration with all this.

I realize hindsight is always 20/20, but it's sad that all this could have been avoided. I mean who were they kidding? It's extremely simple to visually peg the drunk guys in a crowd. Even easier to smell them. That's not profiling. That's just plain stupidity.

He's lucky they didn't impound his truck as well, most jurisdictions the cops have the authority to do that. A stiff punishment now is sometimes all the motivation a kid needs to straighten up and stay straight. It's not fair but then, life isn't fair.

Not really, he didn't even have the keys. How can they impound the truck he wasn't driving?

Bottom line? Drinking at school events underage is stupid- period. Not worth the thrill. But, at least you weren't drinking and driving, something probably even half the guys riding you here have probably done

Learn from it, don't be dumb again, and good luck :santa:

Dang another good reason to live in Cali! Although it sucks the profiling plea wont work. I am pretty sure if the school administrators point you out on school property its not profiling. As long as you are on school property and they point you out to authorities thats enough reason to have cops search you.
