Ecoboost F-150 Confirmed !
They have been seen in testing in F150s. Not that that means its a lock.
I am Really excited about the new Ecoboost motor. 6 sp auto trans supercab FX2 . It sure will be nice to see good milage out of a full size truck. I will be doing everything I can to get the best mileage in this truck. how nice would it be to pull 30 MPG out of a truck. I know I am dreaming but I plan on working on it to see what we can get.
Why??? CometFlash doesnt have a 6.2 and he is first off the line every time in his 5.4. By the sounds of the first drive review by Mike on pickuptrucks.com it sounds like there is very little difference between the 6.2 and 5.4 down low. People talk about need more power, but it is only going to benefit you if you are going racing down the track or going full throttle. And that doesn't make a lot of sense in a truck. It looks to me like the EcoBoost in the F150 will be making a lot more common sense than the 6.2.

I thought I read somewhere that he was going with a less expensive trim anyways, and maybe even a '12 if we start seeing the spy pics this fall/winter. Though I could certainly be wrong, as he seems to build his trucks from the engine outwards, not the other way around.

I can't wait to see the new engines too, PowerKid! But you'd call me MPGguy.

- Maybe the guys beside CometFlash are not aware he's racing them?
- You read the review @ pickuptrucks.com dfferently than I did. Read the review the other guy wrote too. Same truck, diff perspective.
- I've driven a 6.2L @ 10 days ago in a F250. There is more than a little diff between it and a 5.4L down low, mid high you name it. At least in that unit. I was quite impressed. IMHO it would haul AZZ in a reg F150.
- If we don't need more power than how far do you want to take that argument. Perhaps we should all drive 4.6Ls? Maybe CometFlash could STILL beat the other unsuspecting guys off the line at the lights?
The EB may well turn out to be a great option. I may even buy one, who knows. Have to drive one and see.

I learn this little nugget of information today. The 6.2 will require premium fuel to get the full power. Funk that. I am not wasting money on premium!

Thats much better than the GM 6.2 which is at 403 PUG, and @ 384 on RUG.
I do not care for GM. Their trucks are lighter and built with lesser quality.
LOL.
I'm not racing anyone. I could give a crap what other drivers do or don't do so long as they leave me alone to live my own life.
I use my truck as a daily driver 99.99% of the time. Drive to work, drive home. Occasionally drive to fiance's house, maybe to the grocery store, maybe home improvement store, maybe wal-mart, maybe somewhere to grab some food. That's it.
So, as you can see, I don't ever drive out to race anyone. But when my working day is over, and I want to get home, I GO. No, I don't speed (prob go 5mph over posted limit at any given time). But there is a lot of city driving, a lot of stop lights, on my way home. When they turn green and I hit the gas pedal, my F-150 picks up and MOVES, gets up to speed and then stays there until I have to decelerate.
For whatever reason, almost 97% of the time (when I am at the front of line at stop light), when the light turns green and I step on the gas to get up to speed, I always get there first, many times a good 30 seconds or whatever faster than anyone else in the other lanes besides mine.
Why? I have no idea. I don't speed, I don't race. All I want to do is get up to the allowed speed limit (again, always go about 5mph over limit) so I can get home and relax after a full working day. I don't care at all what the people in the other 2 lanes next to me do or don't do. I have zero interest in how fast they go, how fast they accelerate, or even if they happen to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ himself. All I do is step on the gas, MOVE my vehicle up to speed, and continue on my travel home (or to work or wherever I'm going). That's it. Very boring, almost never use my truck as a truck, blah blah.
Point being, I drive. No racing, no competitions, nothing. All I do is life my life and drive up to speed instead of snailing up to speed or whatever most people around me seem to do.
The only reason I even bring it up is because of all the "more power" talk around here. And the only thing I myself would use "more power" for is accelerating, and to me, I notice I'm always first off the line anyways, so I have no interest in more power.
Would I have interest if I wanted to race someone? Yes. Would I if I used my truck for truck stuff like hauling, towing, plowing, etc? Yes. But as a daily driver, all I can say is that I am almost always off the line first with no intentions other than to get up to speed so I can get home and relax after a hard day at work. Same as most everyday working people out there. It just surprises me that with a big, heavy truck that is supposedly weak on power, that I'm almost always the first vehicle up to speed after each stop light.
That's all. I have no issue with Power Kid wanting more power. Who knows what he will use his truck for? He may very well need it. Doesn't matter to me. I only chime in so that others can see who don't have an '09+, that my truck has plenty of get-up-and-go, and all I do is drive to work and back every day, no racing or other truck stuff at all. So they don't have to worry that it has poor acceleration, because it doesn't. No idea why my big vehicle accelerates faster than the little cars around me, all I know is, it does.

^It's because you have a tendency for jackrabbit starts and probably use more gas than everyone else trying to get from stoplight to stoplight. Meanwhile, the reincarnations of JC are lagging behind you, but arrive at the next light right next to you each time. The guy in the 85HP geo metro can whip you to the speed limit if he wants to hammer it each time, but it makes no sense to accelerate that hard just to get to the next stop light. The times when we want "more power" is when we need to pass someone on a two-lane road and that extra oomph can get us around a small hole in traffic. It's when you are towing that 5-6K lbs trailer and are pulling onto the highway on-ramp and want to slide into traffic without making everyone slam on their brakes to accomodate you. Most people here (I'm assuming) aren't going to want the power just so they can go to the strip and have the fastest stock truck, they want the power there for the times when they need it, not for everyday driving.

I think Ford offers a pretty long warranty on their Fusion Hybrid engine and components if I recall correctly.
