Yup! I really wish Discount sold the Toyos, cause those are what I REALLY want. But I figure the Nittos are as close as I'm gonna get with free lifetime rotations and rebalancing any time I want.

check the small independent shops. I bought my Toyos at a great price from a small shop.

The Discount tire near me sells Toyo M/T's.... They used to rotate my tires for free and I'd ask a price on a new set every couple of times... Family bought the rest of the tires from Discount so I got the free rotation perks regardless .

I mounted my Garmin 4.3" GPS unit to my steering wheel, just to try it out. It's mounted on the bottom of the steering wheel of my 07 Screw. I thought about mounting it higher, like above the airbag cover but I didn't want to impede the cluster gauge. So far it's kinda irritating having it so far down and away from the windshield, but I only use it when I'm actually planning a trip somewhere and I only pay attention to the audio part. I'll have to give it a good real world test, see how it affects operator performance.

Last night coming home heard an unfortunate familiar sound coming from the truck. It was shaking real bad when I pulled into the driveway. Looked under and yup sure enough, I lost the bottom bolt of my brake bracket on the front left side. About 3 weeks ago this happened to the front right brake bracket.
I'm thinking when I redid the brakes I figured if I tighten it until I can't anymore it should be within the torque specs. But now that its happened twice I'm thinking I should get a torque wrench finally after always borrowing one. Does anyone know the torque specs for the brake bracket of a 05 2wd Lariat?

I need the free lifetime rotations and rebalancing. Rotations and balancing aside, Discount has the cheapest out-the-door price on every single tire I've considered, or they're within like $30. So they're a no-brainer for me.

Barrett, no Discount tire in all of Texas (or Indiana) sell any Toyo tire at all, so that's odd. It must be a regional thing, but they don't even list Toyo on their site before you narrow down to city. Huh. Maybe I can ask if they can order some for me and have then shipped from a store that has them?

Replaced the lower steering shaft. Had no problem getting old one out. Did it all from the top side. Couldn't see anything from underneath. Bought the Dorman replacement from RockAuto.com too bad it's made in China....

Finally fixed my broken door lock cylinder and its clip, after I couldn't get into my truck Thursday night after working for 12 hours . . . Left reverse lights on accidentally, which completely drained my battery and I couldn't get in with my key fob, like I normally do. Even whipped out the Slim Jim to no avail. Had to leave the truck in the shady/ghetto parking lot that's right off a major highway over night. Getting into it Friday morning was super fun, and very nearly super expensive as well.

After the AAA guy manually unhooked my linkage and towed it to a Ford dealership (literally 10 feet away) and it was still on his tow truck, he remembered that Fords unlock if you pull the handle from the inside. So he put his Jimmy in and had it open in 30 seconds. I could've done that the night before had I remembered . . . But I didn't need to smash out my windshield, so that was good. Lost $80 of overtime and a $20 tip for the driver, but not bad.

Followed up with the body shop, still waiting for flares to come in. They goofed, but kind of in my favor. Instead of the Pacer Performance Flexy Flares, they actually found, and ordered a set of EGR OEM Look flares, which if I recall corrrectly give me the same tire coverage as the Pacers without being made of rubber, and named after the car that killed off AMC...

Seriously though, I should have a set of new flares installed, a straight fender, new door trim, and a happy truck before the end of the week... Which is good, I am paying the overage from my insurance to drive a new Tahoe instead of a Nissan Versa, and I REALLY want to get back into my truck. I miss driving a Ford!
