windage tray= 30hp
electric water pump = 15hp
killer exhaust = ~20hp
low weight oil = 5hp
polished (and i mean really polished) rear end gears = ~ 3 percent driveline losses
vacuum pumping crankcase = 15hp
true matching headers (1 7/8") = ~20-40hp
knife edged counterweights on crank = ~ 5hp
cool running = 2 - 5hp per ten degrees
etc.etc.etc
these are the kind of thing that i call FREE power. they cost a little but add up.

Thanks a lot Bill.

Actually, adding a vacum pump to a motor will net you up to double your 15hp quote. If you actually use low tension rings (as in a true race motor), then you can expect to see every bit of that 30hp gain.

Stock lightnings make 360-390 FWHP and Johnny Lightning makes a hell of a lot more than that.

most of theose quoted numbers are conservative on purpose. full race only applications will net more. thanks for the correction though.
and i quoted
505 flywheel torque for a lightning from the factory
the example vehicle made 720 fwtq
360 fwhp is of course ford's quoted hp for the factory lightnings.
johnny lighning street pumpgas motors make ~620 rwhp.
the quotes are not intended to be exact, but rather an illustration that the boosted 5.4 4v i was talking to is not that impressive for a 4v.

Let's see now.
So what are we looking at?
New 5.4 block.
Ported 3 valve heads.
New Cams
Forged internals
Whipple
??PSI
Long Tubes
Electric fans
Electric water pump
..........................
What have I missed?
Is the blower going to run off the serpentine belt of other belt?
