I haven't had any problems out of my engine yet in my truck it almost has 3,000 miles on it. In fact I never had any engine problems out of any of my Fords in the past. My 2nd car a 78 Mustang with a 4 banger had over 100,000 miles on it when I bought it had no truoble out of it. I sold it to a friend when I went into the army and he drove 3 years after that before he sold it with almost 200,000 on it and still going.

Cool

97,000 miles, NO engine problems (still with original plugs in good shape). I guess its almost time for the 100k maintinence tuneup!

Non-engine stuff - replaced bumpers under warranty after one winter season for bad chrome plating and rust problems (no problem since), leaky rear diff (repaired at 40k, no problems since), lug nut recall, and crack in the drivers door.

All I can say is good job Ford!

Pastmaster: Hey, you're right!! I just asked the husband what engine he's got and it's the 5.8 I'd looked at it before and knew it didn't look like my old 4.6 so I figured it must be the 5.4, especially since it's a 97. I was wrong. Good call Pastmaster, so you think that's why he gets away with such lousy maintence and it still runs soooo good??!!!

Tina--The 351W (5.8) proved itself reliable, especially in harsh conditions. Ford suposedly put the windsors in numerous conditions that normalpeople couldn't get close to by normal driving. Although, they love gasaline.
