Two of my co-workers are Chevy all the way. When I was buying my first truck (the 1980) they didn't cut me any slack. They were first in line to tell me what a POS my truck was. It looks like crap , but man will it work. Well anyway, when I picked up my other one ( the 1997 ) All of the comments are gone. Now the critics are stangly silent. It seems their trucks aren't half the truck my new is.!!!

I have a 1998 F-150 with the 4.2L v-6. I kept up (until about 50 mph) dragging with a Dodge v8 in town today, and I was hauling a load of hay bales.

Unloaded, I've eaten Dodge v8s at highway speeds. I do have a chip.

My 4R70W transmission is not leaking anything at 41,000 miles. My v-6, which frequently tows 5000 pounds in the New Mexico mountains does not use any oil or have any gasket problems. My driver's side door has a crack--no biggie.

The 4R70W was beefed up in 1999 and up trucks, which is why the E40D is not being used. The new 4R70W--which I don't have in my truck--is pretty darned strong according to everything I've heard. I have about 7000 miles of towing across the country and in-state with my truck, and not a gripe. Tows a loaded trailer at 70 miles and hour and doesn't think twice about it; does fine on most grades.

I'd like to see more out of the V-6--wish someone would put out a supercharger. But if my V-6 can hang with another manufacturer's V-8 when unloaded and is so good at towing, that ought to tell you something about Ford's product. Not been in for any problems other than fouled spark plugs (my fault.) No major repairs, just routine maintenance and lots of hard driving.

I work with a bunch of hard core Chevy owners. A hard core Chevy fan will put down every thing other than a Chevy without driving the other brands. A hardcore Chevy fan will defend Chevy, right or wrong. A hard Chevy will brag about the good points of the Vega, Citation, Chevette, Monza, and won't believe these cars had any bad points. A Hard Core Chevy fan will say Fords are trouble prone junk while he has just finished dropping in the 6th engine in his 84 Chevy CK. A hard core Chevy fan will have a #3 sticker on his rear window and have a calvin sticker peeing on Martin, Jarret, Elliot, Ruud, Waltrip, J. Burton, R. Wallace, Spencer, or any Ford driver. A Chevy fan will say the 454, 427 were the baddest engines on the planet while completely forgeting about the Dodge 426 Hemi and 440 six-pack. A hard core Chevy fan has not drank a Miller since Rusty Wallace switched to Fords. A hard core Chevy fan would probably think Gerald Ford was the worst president.

A chevy fan would see a big #3 on the back of a F150 and call the driver of the Ford a Turncoat. A Hard core Chevy fan would say that Dale Jarret was a loser by leaving a Chevy team for a Ford team. Well who got the last laugh? A Hard core Chevy fan would burn his Ernie Ervin, Darrel Waltrip, DJ, and Ricky Rudd posters. A hard core Chevy fan would say "If you don't have to saw on the steerin' wheel on a straight stretch of interstate, yer drivin' a wuss truck!".

Cool

My god you people live in denile!!!!!

Even as I read every post on this topic, I can't help but think of all the other topics about the "pinging" and "piston slap". The only 3 friends I have that own Fords(two 5.4's and one 4.6) have had their engine replaced because the bottom end was failing.(which results in your pinging)

Found On Road Dead
Faked Over Rebuilt Dodge

One thing I will agree with ya'll on is American vs. Jap. I'd drive a Ford before I drive one of those. Of course, I would have to duck my head very low so nobody would see me.

As I replied in another post, you are misinformed, there is nothing wrong with the bottom ends on ford 4.6 and 5.4s. Right now the only manufacturer that has problems with the bottom ends is, yep you guessed it. the 5.3 and 4.8. Them rod bearings just don't seem to hold up. Pinging? don't even get me started on that one. I bet your truck pings worse than any ford ever has. Atleast thats what I have been reading.

Do you want to know why these Shovie owners come to this site? Because they are actually Ford lovers who just won't come out of the closet! Then again maybe they aren't quite bright enough to have a site of their own? Who knows.......?

where is denile!!!!! I sure don't want to live there. I think I'll just move to Flower Mound,Tx. USA, (home of pansies) where, as long as you own a chevy, spelling is not important.

Hmmm if Ford sucks then why had it outsold Chevy for the past 20+ years?

Alright, here we go again. Sour99Shovie, you come in here and run your mouth and say that we are in denial. Well what do you know, apparently not much if you're drivin a Shovie. Just know your roll, and shut your mouth.

You got the heated tailgate option on your truck didn't you, I think they come standard on all Shovies.
