Why do people talk smack on fords?
Funny, but most of my friends are chevy lovers and ever since I thought about getting an f-150 all I heard was a bunch of BS from most of them. Little do they know...
Reasons why f-150s are just damn better trucks
1. Great engines, although chevy shows higher horse power it doesnt show up hmmm...
(Im refering directly to the Engine HP to Rear Wheel HP thread)
Chevy seems to have problems with hp loss when it goes to the ground, 36% hp loss to fords 28% hp loss? Also look at the torque differences!!! Huge
2. Fords just better designed. Since I have gotten my truck my chevy friends just keep going on and on, on how my new f-150 will have problems about a year from now... Funny after months and months of reserching all major brands of american trucks I have never heard any complaints at all from F-150 owners
about their trucks having problems so soon. Hell the worst complaint I heard was not enough cupholder space
Beautifully crafted and solid all around. I dont see a 4th door on Chevy's still.... I dont see a engine that Dodges can compare to the 5.4... unless you call the 5.9 a competator. But with the less hp and torque and the Ram weighing 600 lbs more, clear f-150 engine advantage.
3. F-150's just look so damn good. This of course is opinion but they do.
I love how eventhough Chevy people talk so much sh*t on fords, I can never get a fact out of them. I mainly hear stuff like "fords are pieces of ****' I ask why they are and they seem to trail off and repeat their original line without a real fact to support.
They ask why fords are better I give them concrete answers... then i get the 'Fords- Found on road dead' qoute which is total BS.
I tell them how my friend has a 1997 chevy mini-van and how cheapy constructed it is. His parents had to take in into the shop about once a month because something always went wrong. (I know vans and trucks are different, but the parts they use mostly aren't, plastic door handles are an example)
Sometimes they say ' Then how come the Silverado won truck of the year?'
I say because it was a new design when the Ram was redone in 96 it was truck of the year and so was the f-150 in 97, wasnt it also in 98, not sure.
They still say 'Fords suck'. Then i say 'If fords suck so bad how come they have been the best selling truck for the past 21 years and the best selling vehicle for the past 8 years?' Surely all the millions who own f-150's know less than you about trucks?{sacastically}
Anyone have any same experiences?

Don't take it personally. Just be sure to show them what fine, upstanding people Ford owners are. This can best be done by not teasing them too much when they ask you to drag their sorry piece of Ch*vy crap home for them after it has broken down along the road.

Don't worry about those shovie people. They are just all talk. My girlfriends brother is into chevys and I argue all the time with him. I must really have him scared into chevies are crap because he never takes his 95 z71 off the road. He wants to go where I go so he got his dad to buy him 2 1/2 toyotas with 31 in. buckshots on one and 33 in. mud kings on the other. If he happens to go off road he brings a toyata which they have been tearing up to. He changes the oil in the z71 every 1500 miles, changes the transmission fluid rear end and he even changed the power steering fluid, trying to make the chevy last. He waxes it atleast once a week. The truck only has 50K but yet it is the best truck in the world. the 4x4 actuator went out, drivers power window, muffler rusted through, blinkers went out and the vents are broken. There is no telling what has been fixed that I don't know about. They also have a 86 f-150 that he runs harder than his other 3 trucks but it just won't quit. Yes he calls it a peice of junk because over the years they have replaced an altenator waterpump and the a/c quit and they have no up keep on it. They have a small tractor and if they want to pull it guess what its behind the ford. Supposedly it is easier to pull with the auto of the ford rather the stick on the z71. He may get alot of miles out of his truck but look how he treats it. My truck will probaly still outlast his eventhough it is run hard with little upkeep. But he will name soandso that runs thier chevy hard but I never see it. So in other words you know what is best, if they want to drive something so unreliable, let them.

The one I always loved to hear was when Ford redesigned them in '96: "They look just like a Dodge!" Go figure that one. My reply was "Yeah I can see where the #1 manufacturer would wanna immitate the #3. There's nothin a leader would wanna do more than become like one of the losers, get your head otta your a$$." Of course this same person used to say the Windstar copied the Villager(Nissan design). Other than a box with 4 wheels I could never see the similarities. Is his eye for detail that distorted or mine that refined? I still think havin his head where it was caused the sphincter to cut off blood to his brain. Musta, cuz after he sold his Nissan he bought a Shovie.

I must need to get my eyes checked, but my truck in no way resembles a Dodge. So what, Ford puts a dip in the hood following the line of the headlights that still isn't as dramatic as what Dodge did to the hood.
The boyfriend I had when I first got my truck said it would look alot better if there was a bowtie on the grille. The cold shoulder sure did stop that comment in its tracks.

I have to say that the Ford Super Duty is more of a copy of the new Dodge. I think it's pretty obvious, but then the Dodge is just borrowing from all the Semi (Kenworth, et al) trucks out there.
No doubt about it: the Chrysler Corporation is the world leading automotive stylist. Everyone else is trying to catch up, but most don't have the ***** to take the chances that Chrysler does. Think: Dodge Ram, Viper, Prowler, Intrepid . . all very daring, but very effective styles.
Having said that, I wouldn't own a Chrysler product. I might lease one (my wife wants a Grand Cherokee), but I don't think they are built as well as Ford.
Back to the F-Series styling: I think I can get inside the stylists' heads. The F150 (light duty) conveys a more refined, softer look. Soft curves, clean lines. The Super Duty conveys a gnarly, rugged look. That goes with the rugged nature and more truck-like characteristics of the super duty. Hence the Kenworth look. I think it's genius, really.
I stuck my neck out recently to buy this Ford, after having owned all imports (with the exception of my first vehicle, an '87 Ranger, which in all fairness was a great truck). After having rented so many Fords from Hertz, and realizing they were far and away better than the Chryslers and GMs I'd rented, I decided to give the F150 a chance. Besides, the imports didn't have anything that was close, besides the Tundra, and you-gotta-be-kiddin' if you think I'll pay that much more for less.

Well not to long ago I had a guy at work ask me if Ford was any good and I said I haven't had any trouble out any I owned over the years. Then I toped it off by saying if Ford isn't any good how come they been the best selling truck for over 20 years and have more cars and trucks in best selling top ten than any other make. Then a few days latter he told me he just bought him a new chevy s10 because they gave him the best deal before that he had some old jap crap. So it just goes to show if they can't have the best because they can't aford it they will just keep on saying bad things about something they don't know nothing about.
1. All they have ever owned are shovies.
2. They are stupid.
3. They are ignorant.
4. They are jealous, or
5. All of the above.
Ford is proof that ignorance is not bliss. Have I forgotten something?

A friend of mine at work loves the design of the F150, however in trying to describe it he said it looked like "melting ice cream." He's a good guy, I just think he needs to sit a little farther back from the computer screen.

I must admit that I used to drive Chevy's. After I totaled my last one, I didn't have much cash, or choice, and bought a 93 Ranger.I Never had any problems with that truck (126,000 miles). I just wanted to be in the full size club, and I liked the new Fords. I think most of the older Fords were pretty ugly, but they have definitely improved in that department. I believe every maker has it's "lemons", but it's more about how well you take care of your ride. "preventive maintance". Next time you and your Chevy buds are crusin' down the interstate, play a little game. Count all the broke Chevy's, and count all the broke Ford's, and almost always, Ford wins.

While you're counting cars,
See how many "jap crap" cars you see on the side of the road.
I can't remeber the last time I saw a Nissan or Toyota or Honda.
When I have seen them it was obvios they weren't taken care of and normally 20year old cars.
A lot of domestics on the side of the road especially GM products.
Be sure to count all GM products as well as all Ford products.

Whan I used to work at a car parts store most of the foriegn car parts we sold were oil filters, belts, brake pads, etc.
We didn't sell hardly any internal engine parts for foriegn cars.
I must have sold 5 sets of valve cover gaskets for V8s every day.
Plus we sold many internal engine parts like crankshafts and pistons for domestic cars (Mostly GM stuff)
I couldn't even tell you how many people driving GM came in every 2-3 days to buy a quart of oil. (1 quart at a time)
Sometimes we even joked with them and asked if they would like a set of valve cover gaskets to go with thier quart of oil..

I saw a late model Toyota Avalon broken down just last week. Every maker has their share of lemons. You see less foreign cars on the side of the road because there are alot less of them on the road.
