Ford Tough????
You know - the marketing director for Fram/Autolite/Prestone/Honeywell has been posting on these forums defending Fram filters - I betcha he won't go near this thread. If I were him, I'd be doing everything I could to help this poster get things taken care of - like getting Honeywell to go to battle with Ford and the warranty company, and paying for the engine damage. However, if I did that, I bet I wouldn't be the marketing director much longer.
So jbrew let me get this straight. We the consumers must use what the manufactur calls for on our vehicles? We have no say so on what parts can be used on our vehicles and if we use these parts our trucks are going to crap out. That is pretty much what you are saying. Please correct me if I am wrong. I didn't come on here to argue with anyone just wanted to vent because of all the problems I have had with my truck just in the last 6 months. I have learned one thing though I will never use Fram again!
Hey guys one thing I have noticed since I got my phasers and lifters replaced is a somewhat loud vibration under the hood when I put the truck in reverse. It does not do it all the time I would say about 80% of the time though. I also had my transmission flushed by the dealer and I'm wondering if that too might have messed something up. Just not sure!

You can use other stuff, even modify, but if those changes adversly affest lifespan, expect a problem getting the manufacturer to pay.
That's all he meant.
I too used many many orange fram filters over the years, but now I use OEM. Those older vehicle had looser tolerances, used thicker oils, weren't as complex, and often didn't last as long.
