thats weird man, i didnt know a cam position sensor would cut ignition. my only experience with it was long crank times and batch firing injectors.

You can always swap the bad one back in, if the problems comes back then you've nailed it, if not then you still have a gremlin. Might be a way to bench test it also.

the hell with that, if it dont do it for several weeks i'd conclude that it was probably the problem.

As an Engineer, I'd like to know for 100% certainty what the problem was, or else you could be in a bad place/time and have return.......

Doing what you described wouldn't prove 100% that it was the cam sensor. It could just be a freak coincidence.

But since someone else mentioned the possibility, replacing the sensor fixed the problem and i'm pretty sure 99.9% is good enough.

i hate putting old parts back in then screwing myself. although i have to admit, some parts are pretty easy to change on the side of a road and "forget" where i put the culprit part after replacing it the 2nd time.

it runs great now, no problems. if it comes back then ill know its something else. but i find it true that it had to be the sensor being as it wouldnt start 10 minutes before I switched the sensor, and died at a stop light on the way to my shop.
