hm, like i said, its just an idea that i put out for thought. it'd be nice if he could catch it with a diagnostic tool. see if the injectors are being fired as a batch when it does this.

Batch milking the cylinders... I can see where that would cause problems in a few areas if that's the case - progressive problems during the drivecycle that could be adding up to the issue's he's having. Makes sense, you might be right Blitch().

Yea , that's kinduh messed up . I never heard of a bad cam sensor throwing a code.

That's not a bad price IMO - I hope that does it. That sucks , sometimes you can't get away from throwing parts at it - just to see if that's the problem. If it's not , at least you'll have an extra sensor on hand. That can be handy - been there done that.

If you can data log set it up to log the Cam, crank, injector pulse width, MAF and IAT, RPM, road speed, Commanded rpm, and TP angle and EGR. Next time it dies look at the log to see what it was doing. If one of the sensors dropped you will see it.

ok so I checked all the wiring to the crank and cam sensor, everything is fine, i cleaned both sensors, and the wiring going to the crank sensor has a stainless wire, looks to be for a ground or something, going around the 2 wires that plug into the crank sensor. the wiring that is wrapping around it is broke loose on the end that plugs to the sensor... but i see no where that it would even go? that bolt isnt loose either>

The Crank sensor only has two wires that plug into it. The other wire you are referring to is the shield. It should have continuity to ground. It also shares the PCM case ground at splice 101.

without the shield working properly u can get all sorts of interference from the alternator. coils and other items that put off large amounts of EMI. all else fails wrap it up in some aluminum tape used for duct work. or just run another shield wire. i had hell when my shield wire cam unplugged from my coil packs. damn even fuzzed in my stereo.
